Delayed period after first depo injection

My DD had her first depo injection a week ago. Her period was due two days after she had the injection but it still hasn’t arrived. Is it likely that it could have affected her period that quickly? Obviously she will also take a test to rule out pregnancy. She is out at the moment and I’m say here worrying! She says her and her bf have been using condoms. She is only 17 🙁

Yes, depo stopped my periods completely and for a year afterwards.

Depo can do weird things to periods. It made me bleed constantly. It's stops them for some women

I never have a period on depo. In fact, it’s why I like it so much! I would be more surprised if she did have one.

Thanks all. I knew the injection could have that effect but I didn’t think it would happen immediately given her period was imminent.

Well she’s not pregnant thankfully so it must be the immediate effect of the injection.
