I may as well just ask work to pay my wages directly to them Grin

We're getting an Aldi. Is that worth getting excited about? Not sure I've ever been in one Smile

Thorilicious · 25/01/2022 21:05

Aldi is definitely worth getting excited about. The middle aisles are the stuff of legends. DH went on to get some food shopping once, and came out with a sodding unicycle!

We have a B&M, home bargains and the range all next to each other, it’s a full day out. 😂

pumpkinpie01 · 25/01/2022 21:21

Our Homebase was turned into a lovely B&M 2 min walk from my work I have spent my last 2 lunchtimes in there Smile

It’s not a ‘shopping list’ type place, it’s about going in & getting swept along on a tide of crystal coasters and multipacks of funsized Mars bars. You see where it takes you. Which is usually some stationery, an end of line nail polish, a sparkly dog harness and a bag of 100 tea lights.

This is so true! I've a tendency to talk to myself (honestly, I'm totally normal guv'nor Grin) but find the excitement of it all when I'm in H Bargains means I chunter away a bit louder, "Oooh, Japanese pea snacks, don't mind if I do" type of commentary Confused
whirlycarly · 25/01/2022 21:32

@Thorilicious omg that's amazing. My friend calls it the aisle of shite but a unicycle definitely isn't shite. Grin

itwasntaparty · 25/01/2022 21:50

Last time I was there I bought a blender and a dehumidifier. DH has banned me!

That sounds like when I rang my dad "Dad, have you got a dehumidifier?" "No. I've got a chainsaw though?" Me ConfusedHmmConfusedHmm because they're related?!

@BringYourOwnBoris

Home Bargains is in a different league to B&M, its a totally better class of crap! Who doesn't love a sparkly reindeer tablecloth and star shaped serving dishes?
StarAgreed!
Thorilicious · 25/01/2022 22:17

You don't go to B&M to buy something you need. You go to B&M and it tells you what you need Grin

On the way to my old job, I walked past Lidl, two Poundlands, and a Home Bargains. Poundland was open on the way in and I often popped in for tissues or deodorant and came out with a whole bag of stuff I "needed", mainly stationery. When I left my job, I realised why my friends used to try to get me to stop going there. I have enough pens and pads to open my own shop. Payday was the best though, Poundland on the way in, Home Bargains and Lidl on the way home.

Thankfully for my bank account, I now work from home and CBA to walk to Lidl (a whole 7 minutes away!) Although I did have to walk in the opposite direction recently as one of my cats had been found and taken to a rescue centre. I discovered that the massive Poundland near me is only 15 minutes away. Again, thank goodness for laziness 😂
