I had an interview recently for a promotion within my male dominated company.
I specifically mentioned that if appointed I would bring another point of view to the table as there we no women in the team at all and few in senior roles within the company.
I explained I understood why the company was like it was due to the sector we work in being very male dominated, however I offered the reasons I could add diversity to the team
I really think I took them back - though it was only internal managers interviewing and no one from HR was in attendance (which I think is wrong) however it has made me feel really good since I did it.
No idea if it will help or hinder my application but I am so pleased I pointed it out and I feel better for doing so.
