Lakeland heated throw.

I’m looking at buying a heated throw. The one in Lakeland says 2p to run? Has anyone found it to be this cheap. Does anyone have it and is it any good.

This thread is old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for advice on keeping warm this winter, we’ve recently updated our best heated throw page with plenty of toasty Mumsnetter-approved blankets. We hope you find it useful.

I've got one and wouldn't be without it. I don't know specifically how much it costs to run, but I've not noticed any particular increase to my electric bill.

Wildrobin · 25/01/2022 13:28

I haven’t measured its cost but they are really good. We had one break but it was still under warrantee luckily and customer Service was excellent .

I've got the one with stars on. I've no idea how much it costs. I love it so much I don't care!

Bookaholic73 · 25/01/2022 16:49

I bought one from Amazon, my son uses it all day all night and I’ve not noticed any change in electricity price increasing.

continuousmonotonousbeep · 25/01/2022 16:54

I have a similar throw and it's about 4-8p per hour to run so probably on the lowest setting yours could be 2p/hr to run

StillMedusa · 25/01/2022 16:58

I have one and it's FABULOUS! It's cut our heating bills because I'm no longer turning the central heating up high.. I just snuggle under the throw!

BreathingDeep · 25/01/2022 17:00

I have the Lakeland heated throw and it's been a Godsend. I feel the cold terribly, and as I'm working at home, it's perfect to sit on and wrap over my legs while I work and keeps me toasty. No big hikes to the electric bill, and if anything, it reduces costs as I don't put the heating on like I did.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 25/01/2022 17:19

Ah u lot have made me happy. I’m buying one.

I’ve got one from Argos - best thing ever!

JuneOsborne · 25/01/2022 17:22

I got a cheapo one (£25 ISH) no difference to my bills bit it's a game changer. Best thing I've ever bought. Honestly!

Oblomov22 · 25/01/2022 17:25

Dh sent me the picture of the heated dressing gown today. As my username suggests I do live in my dressing gown.

Sundayscented · 25/01/2022 17:29

Got a Lakeland one - fabulous!

CarButtonCloth · 25/01/2022 17:29

Maybe a silly question but do you have to keep it plugged in the whole time you're using it? i.e. sit within reach of a plug socket?

KittenKong · 25/01/2022 17:31

I got one by default (bought it for a relative who declared it ‘too hot’). It’s wonderful and cozy. I can’t say I’ve noticed it being expensive and you don’t keep it on for hours - just long enough to warm up then you can snuggle under it.

Lakeland heated throw.

Another one to come on to say that the Lakeland heated throw is the best thing ever. I was doing a dissertation and would sit in my study immobile, not generating any heat at all. Thought processes slowed to a standstill, dissertation moved a glacial speed. I asked for a heated throw for Christmas and the amount of scoffing from my family at my “old lady present” was sky high Hmm. Fast forward to WFH and guess what - DH now also has one and raves about it as a game changer etc. I’ve fond them particularly good for Zoom calls - easier to concentrate when you are toasty warm from the waist down Smile. Plus we’ve bought loads of them for presents and they’ve been very well received.

As someone said upthread, I suspect part of the cost saving also comes from not putting the heating on - it really does get you that warm.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 25/01/2022 17:35

I've got the Lakeland star one, bought myself it for Xmas. I love it and once DD is bed I don't have to put the heating on as I'm so toasty warm under it.

It has 3 settings and I imagine the 2p per hour to run is on the lowest setting. I usually put it on the middle setting.

The heated dressing gowns sound cool tho, wish they had been out pre Xmas as I would have got one of those.

TawnyPippit · 25/01/2022 17:36

Oh and I got a distinction for my dissertation, and I think the heated throw deserves a good chunk of credit for it!

gingeristhenewblack43 · 25/01/2022 17:38

My DF has had one of the Aldi ones for a few years and loves it

@carbuttoncloth yes, it needs to be plugged in - but the cord is quite long. I have one from Argos and I live in it when WFH. 6 heat settings and I can have it on for 1, 3 or 9 hours.

CarButtonCloth · 25/01/2022 17:46

Thanks for replying @JamMakingWannaBe

I bought the Lakeland one for my elderly DM in December. It's washable and has a cut out. She loves it.
