Do people still use big prams ?

Just that really, totally out of interest.
I don't see them any more. When I had my babies 30 odd years ago, I had a big silver cross carriage pram, and then a seat on it when my second baby was born.
Most people had proper prams, maybe as we walked a lot more. I suppose they aren't practical anymore.
I just remember the baby being so cosy in there, whatever the weather and the suspension being lovely and bouncy.
I did also have a silver cross wayfarer pushchair for the car.

They’re very expensive these days.

You can also get them customised. Fur round the hood, bling etc. there was a place near me doing a roaring trade until covid. I think they’re more for the photos now than going out walking with.

@17to35

In those days babies were left outside shops in the big pram. Practicality comes first now.
Babies were left outside shops 30 years ago? In 1992? More like 1952!

One of my first memories is sitting on the little seat on top of a silvercross pram while my mum pushed it over the cobbles behind our house, and feeling scared!

@RogerDodger

Do they still make them?
Yes and they are £££. The dolls ones are £400.

I remember them from the days when babies were often left in big prams outside shops. I’m not sure anyone would do that nowadays.

Plus they took up a lot of room in the hallway, assuming you had one.

Sorry garlictwist, I meant the days (I remember 1962) when those prams plus toddler seats were common.

I’m trying to imagine pulling one into the tiny coffee shops we have around here. Never mind the dozen steps I have to my front door! I’d never be able to leave the house with it.
