Any advice regarding masks abroad

We're due to go to Cyprus in a few months. My ds is 7, is autistic and has sensory needs.
In Cyprus all children 6 and over have to wear masks most the time, so that's outdoors if you can't social distance and indoors. He is really going to struggle with wearing one for any longer than about 5 mins and he can't hack anything being over his face.
I know over here in uk anyone with any additional needs and learning difficulties are exempt from wearing masks, is that right ?
And if so can I get any kind of proof of exemption to take with us?
Thanks

I would imagine you'll be fine with a child just over the minimum age tbh, but you'd probably be best getting something in writing. You may want to check with the airline you're going with too, as they will have their own requirements.
But when that's all done- relax and have a lovely holiday!

Contact the hotel you're staying at. Despite what some suggest, every country has exemptions, just most are more strict than in the UK.

When I was going away (cancelled due to lockdown), the hotel in Spain asked me to get a letter from a healthcare professional, and they would translate it and put their number on the letter in case of query. I can't guarantee every hotel will be so helpful.

I live in Cyprus - children over the age of six have to wear them in schools but not outdoors. Adults are supposed to wear masks at all times in public places but it's only enforced in shops, workplaces etc. As a tourist you'll be fine - the authorities here do not want to discourage holidaymakers.

Thank you for the replies and advice. I have ordered him an 'I am autistic' lanyard and card but worrying it won't hold up. I will contact the gp for some kind of letter too.

@PollyCreo Ahh, that makes me feel abit better. On trip advisor people are saying they're extremely strict with it, even with the children. And if someone approached my son about a mask he would really get upset so it's got me worrying.
I would imagine Cyprus have there own exemptions anyway don't they ?

@PollyCreo hi I've just thought of something and wondering if you could answer. I see you need a 'safe pass' to enter establishments while in Cyprus, how is this going to work for my son who is unvaccinated ? Does this mean he can't go in anywhere ?
