Black marks on white clothes after wash

Black marks are appearing on school shirts after a wash. The shirts are coming out of the wash dirtier than they went in! I can’t find a way to get rid of the marks. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to stop it? Thanks

Looks like oil or something. Have you checked for grime round the seal of the door

As pp said, clean the seal around the door thoroughly. If they're white, bleach solution for 10 mins.

Clean the door and the rubber around it.

I have already tried cleaning seal round door. Will try soaking in bleach to see if that shifts it

I had this on my work blouses. It took several goes of peeling the rubber seal properly back and repeatedly wiping then, in desperation, I ran the machine with a little bleach through it (it froths like mad!) then it never happened again.
I got the marks off by scrubbing with fairy with the green scratchy bit of a washing up sponge. I then had to rewatch the blouses each time and pray they came out okay.

The bearings in your machine are probably going. Is it very noisy?
