I don't think there's any point in putting up more lyrics for this one. It's the Everly Brothers (again). But not a very well known one, but my dad liked it.
It's called Take A Message To Mary.
The premise is that he's done a crime that's gone wrong. So he's asking someone to take a message to Mary to cancel their wedding and all their plans, but not to tell her he's rotting in jail.

MN would spot a load of red flags, but it's kind-of sweet.

Arrgh - haven't been on the thread this week but I knew that one - my mum loves the Everly Brothers so we grew up listening to them
