I'm just drinking my first cuppa - not in silence though, the washer's already on.

I'm taking dd2 into town, in a little while, to birthday shop for dd1 who turns 15! on Tuesday Shock. We shouldn't be too long as I have a list, although dd2 does like to wander the market too, so we'll see.

Dd1's staying here with their dad so hopefully they'll tackle the mountain of pots I couldn't be bothered with last night & maybe the ironing too.

When we get in, I have a bit of prep to do for Tuesday's Rainbows and Guides. Although I might do that tomorrow while birthday cake bakes

We're having garlic chicken for tea, at dd2's request. Probably with salad and either wedges or salad. & definitely a well deserved glass of wine for me!

What about all of you? :)

I'm drinking tea and fiddling about with some craft work. When DH gets back from dog walking, we're going down to the land to do more fencing. (Not ⚔️ 😀, although that would be fun) and I will be planting my yew tree, which has been growing in a pot for a couple of years, and is 4 feet tall.
First, I've got to ring my bank, which is objecting to me trying to buy something online from the USA.
Left over salmon and macaroni cheese for lunch and then I keep promising myself that I will have a clear out of clothes and shoes, now that I don't need so many work clothes.
But I will probably end up watching Channel Zero's No End House, which I have just bought and am dying to see. And I will put up two pictures somewhere else, now that the TV is on the wall.
DH will be making some inroads on the vast pile of wood in the yard.
After more dog walking, I will settle down and clean out one of my (adult collectors) dolls houses. The trouble with the open back kind is the dust! So I will assemble my tool kit of soft paintbrushes, an air puffer brush and a magnifier, and get busy.
Dinner will be a joint enterprise of spatchcock chicken with garlic, lemon and honey. DH will do the spuds and parsnips.
I will also bake something quiche-like to take to the coven tomorrow.
I have no plans for the evening, as I’m still careful about avoiding crowds, so no Saturday night frolics for us.

Not much really, rugby tots was cancelled as the other coach has covid and I have the next few saturdays off.

We might attempt to all venture out together later, but the main plan is laziness and naps.

Happy Birthday to your daughter OP, 15, does that mean she is in her first GCSE year?

Sorry for the posters with covid/have it in the house, its crap, but 🤞🏽 you won’t feel too unwell and may even be able to do early release with a negative test.

TurtleBackUp · 22/01/2022 10:29

Happy birthday!

Got the house to myself, DC at work. Just woke up, will stay in bed all day. Shower and get dressed later as going out with my DP for someone in his family birthday.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/01/2022 10:39

Happy birthday to your DD, @lucysmam!

We’re on day 7 of Covid isolation here and still testing positive, so going a bit mad. I was hoping DD might be able to go back to school tomorrow, but no such luck.

So, it’s another day of keeping DD entertained with YouTube, playdough, football in the garden and maybe making some cupcakes, after the success of yesterday’s chocolate chip cookies.

Not sure what we’ll have for lunch, but supper will be leftover takeaway curry from last night. It’ll probably be the highlight of the day!

lucysmam · 22/01/2022 10:49

Thanks for the birthday wishes for dd!

@MrsPear I know...I'm having a bit of a wow moment about it myself!

@Plantsandpuddlesuits it's been really good, thanks for asking. I felt like a spare part on Monday - everyone has their own morning routines - but am getting the hang of it now. I had mucky trouser knees yesterday & am reasonably sure someone wiped snot on my scarf EnvyEnvy (

Yes very Happy Birthday to your DD Lucysmam!

MrsBerthaRochester · 22/01/2022 11:02

Ds1 and 2 were at their dads last night and Ds2 has football this morning.
I usually lie in but the postmaj came with a parcel at 9. Up had coffee then lazed on couch watching Frasier.
Might try and persuade dd to walk to Lidl with me later as I want more gin. Dry january was a total failure!
Tonight will watch Death in paradise with ds2 who guesses the murderer every time!

TheChosenTwo · 22/01/2022 11:06

Ds is at football with dh.
I dropped dd1 at school for a maths catch up day (she’s my best pleased, I got her a Starbucks on the way to cheer her up!!), dd2 is making brownies as the in-laws are coming for dinner tonight. I’m lying on the sofa in the kitchen watching her, trying to decide if I have a hangover or not, I think not but will lie down for a little longer to be sure Grin we’ve got the music on and enjoying us having a natter, she’s good company.

dementedma · 22/01/2022 13:13

Decided too cold and wet for gardening so have assuaged my guilt by cleaning the oven instead. And posted two letters. And have dinner ready in the slow cooker. Thats enough for one day.

Simonjt · 22/01/2022 14:01

@lucysmam Really good so far, no signs of jealousy/feeling pushed out from my son which is what we were the most worried about, he’s a fab assistant at bathtime. She has slept for about 4.5-5 hours a night since Tuesday, which is pretty good. One bonus of covid is that SW follow up visits are video calls so they can’t see the state of the flat 😂

lucysmam · 22/01/2022 19:16

Aw, I'm really pleased to see that @Simonjt! Your excitement has really shone through your posts the past few weeks 🥰 How old is she?

@dementedma that's definitely enough for one day!

She’s very little, an autumn baby.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 23/01/2022 10:17

Aww that's lovely @Simonjt and she sounds like an excellent sleeper! Glad you are all settling in well.

What's everyone up to today?

Yesterday ended up being super busy but lovely and the children didn't go to bed until after 9! Everyone only just surfacing really.

No huge plans, homework and uniform washing. I didn't end up making the Banana muffins yesterday we made biscuits instead so may do muffins today. Was hoping to pop some mince in the slow cooker this morning for slow cooker shepherds pie but we forgot to lift it out the freezer last night uurgh so going to have to think of another meal / go to the shop uuurgh. Might just buy a ready made shepherds pie tbh!

I really need to clean the bathroom today too.

So a pretty boring day all round here!
