My son is off travelling for 3 months before Uni in September - trip is to central and south america - he has flights and hostels booked. This is all new to me as I am not an adventurous /backpacker type so I am not sure what to advise him to sort out before departure etc.
Covid restrictions/tests are not the issue, it is more general advice I am after.
He has :
Travel insurance - worldwide up to £20m medical including covid cover.
Decided to use Revolut card for ££
Decided to use Wifi and buy local SIM cards in each country
Said he will leave photocopies of passport with me
booked himself into a Boots travel clinic for any jabs
Worked to save up for the trip
Done all of this himself, which is amazing.

Can I pick brains please with hints/tips for 3 months abroad ?
Thanks

Make sure he has phone numbers and addresses of local embassies or consulates of each country/region he visits. Written down somewhere that can be accessed without internet.

I'm sure you will, but of course keep a copy of his itinerary including flight numbers, hotel addresses and phone numbers.

If I think of more I'll come back and add things. But what an amazing achievement, to organise all this himself. I'm sure he will have a fantastic time, you should be really proud of him!
