best premiere inn for concert in 02?

We're travelling to London for a concert in the 02 in March and wondering where's the best place to stay?
We'll be looking at a Premiere Inn type hotel as travelling with teens. They'll also want to have a look around London when we're there so somewhere not too far out would be fantastic.
All suggestions very welcome as we've never been to the 02 before.

The o2 is far out from Central- it’s in Greenwich! Greenwich itself is fab, park, museums etc.

However, if you want to also experience some of the central London attractions, the o2 is an easy 20 min tube from Waterloo/London Bridge. So hotels near those stations would give you easy access to central AND the o2.

They put on extra tubes after o2 events so it’s usually a short queue (10 mins or so) to get on a tube back. O2 area feels very safe and easy.

We stayed at county hall. Tube there and booked a boat/ferry back

Thank you so much for that information!
I think it makes sense to stay central and travel out for the event and back in again. I'll look around waterloo / London Bridge so. We actually stayed in a Premiere Inn at London Bridge a few years ago so that's good to know

Is County Hall handy for teens who will want to hit Oxford St etc?

Just be aware that the Premier Inn at Waterloo currently has no restaurant for breakfast.

The O2 is on the Jubilee line so look around London Bridge, Waterloo, Southward. If you are going at a weekend avoid anywhere where you need the Circle or Victoria lines because of the strikes. There are also some closures on the Northern line and District line.

There is a decent Hampton by Hilton at Waterloo.

There’s a holiday inn walking distance that is definitely good value for money. We’ve stayed there before

I've just re-checked the tickets (booked months ago) and it's 02 Forum Kentish Town ?

Its 5 minutes walk from Waterloo where you can get a tube to Leicester Square or Tottenham Court Road (the bottom end of Oxford Street by the massive Primark). Or a nice 15 minute walk across the bridge to Charing Cross/Strand area.
Comefromaway · 20/01/2022 11:10

Scrap that then its a totally different area/venue

Same holds. Kentish town is on the northern line so Waterloo, London Bridge etc will be easy. Much closer than the actual O2 and has some atmosphere. Bit more grungy and dark and no seats.

Kentish town is about 15 mins on the tube from Waterloo.

Comefromaway · 20/01/2022 11:15

Kentish Town is opposite end of the Northern line which goes direct to Euston. There is a really nice Premier Inn at St Pancras. You can get the Thameslink train direct or the Northern Line to Euston and its about a 10 minute walk from there. The Euston Premier has gone downhill recently.

Thank you all!

The Southwark Tate Modern Premier Inn is in a great location. Near underground for travel to gig and into Oxford Street for shopping. Great walks and sight seeing along the river and close to Borough Market.

Have you got any personal experience of that one (I'm booking at the moment) and have heard some varying reviews, especially with regards to noisy building work at the moment.

We stayed in the Marriott on Westminster Bridge but there is also Premier Inn there too. We got the boat there and back to the O2. The kids loved it, there is lots to see and do in that area - London Eye, HOP, great walks along river. We even went to the Tower by boat one day. And as pps have said it's a great location, even for Kentish Town via Waterloo.

soupmaker · 21/01/2022 17:54

@Comefromaway Not recent. We stayed about 4 years ago.

We enjoyed our stay at the Premier Inn Tower Bridge. Restaurant and bar both open. Nice little places for eating nearby and close to London Bridge Station.
