Diamond jewellery on ebay

I have found a piece of jewellery I love on ebay. Its not a massive diamond .25 carat and priced as you would expect. Private seller who has a range of items and no other jewellery
I'm wavering thinking perhaps I should safe until I can afford new. Or do I buy and get it's authenticity checked somewhere. Would a local jewellers provide such a service?

If you like it for the piece irrespective of it being diamond and the price suits you, buy it.

If it's more important to be a genuine diamond then I would go to an established jeweller.

I could buy the look for much much less but I would like an actual diamond

Does the seller have good feedback and has been operating some time?

In the past I have sold unwanted, individual, inherited diamond rings, as a private seller.
There are genuine sellers out there.
I also bought a diamond ring, but it was a jeweller selling so I contacted him personally to authenticate.

15 years of positive feedback so it all looks good

Just if there is a problem it can take a while to get the refund. Ds had to return a new PS5 very recently but was a bit of a delay as the seller was slow to reply and reluctant to cough up even with Ebay stepping in.

It has rather put us off any larger purchases although we do have the money now.

Perhaps double check any negative feedback if there is any. Sometimes a seller can lose their reputation very fast and Ebay shuts them down. Has the seller sold similar items in the recent times? I am more cautious these days ....

Does the seller have a cert of authenticity for the Diamond? I have one for my engagement ring for the actual diamond and also one from the insurance company confirming what it is worth.
