Do/will teachers have to be fully vaxxed?

Sorry, I should know.

I know about care workers and frontline HCPs, but is there a teacher thing happening?

Again, apologies that I don't know!

No teacher thing happening. We have never been on priority lists, have always been in general rollout by age group.

MrsPuddle · 19/01/2022 22:52

Are you a teacher op? Why are you asking?

Fordian · 19/01/2022 23:03

Thanks.

Government hasn't given a flying duck throughout the whole pandemic about teachers! They had to continue teaching key worker children face to face before vaccination.

converseandjeans · 19/01/2022 23:22

I don't imagine anyone really cares! Teachers have been treated as part of general population and have not had priority vaccinations like NHS or care workers.

HugeAckmansWife · 20/01/2022 06:59

No, because for the most part we are not dealing with already vulnerable, ie ill or elderly people. Given that the vax mostly protects the recipient and does less than hoped regarding transmission, I'm not sure what the argument would be for forcing a teacher to have it. I have by the way, I'm not anti them, but given that not having one primarily risks the individual, not their contacts, I don't think it's a strong enough case to override autonomous bodily choice for teaching staff.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/01/2022 07:40

I wouldn't have thought so, primary school kids aren't vaccinated anyway so it wouldn't make much of a difference regarding transmission in classrooms.

Plenty of people had to continue to go into work before vaccination.

Yes. I'm just not sure why people are so outraged that they had to go into work. It's only ever teachers I see complaining about it.
Buzzinwithbez · 20/01/2022 09:05

I guess it's a possibility that this could creep into other sectors if no one supports our nhs workers with their fight to keep their jobs.

ANameChangeAgain · 20/01/2022 09:08

I would have put teachers first in the queue alongside health care workers for vaccines, quite honestly. But no, teachers don't need to be forced to be vaccinated.

I care! And if NHS workers are sacked, I'll get behind whoever is next... But hopefully we can prevent it going any further at this point.

I don't have children in school, but I care passionately about not coercing people to override their bodily autonomy.
