How do you get a new passport now?

Our passports are all 2 years out of date. Can I do it all online, how do you get photos and countersigning now?

Yes online, you can upload a digital photo taken against a plain light wall , might not need countersign if you have a valid driving license. If you do it's done via and email link. I had to bribe my friend to be bothered as she didn't do it for ages, which was a pain.

It was really simple to renew it online. You can upload your photo and don't need to get it countersigned unless youve changed name. I got my new one exactly two weeks after posting back my old one . That was last November. I thought it would take months to be processed and to get a new one.

Thank you for this, my passport expired just over 2 years ago , my address has changed as well - I’ve been putting off getting a new one as I couldn’t face the hassle.

Ours were v quick. We tried to take photos at home, but there was always a shadow or something wrong.
Took them in a booth in Asda, which gives you a direct link to use - v simple.
Mine does make me look like even more of a hideous old hag than I actually am, but I don’t care - hardly anyone is going to see it.

Oh yes, the photos are so brutal aren’t they. Mine is 12 years old and dreadful. I can’t imagine how bad the next one will be.

I’ve got four to do and I’ve been putting it off for 2 years!

You might find a local photography shop takes a more flattering photo? You’ll get prints and the code for the online photos.

Mine ran out a year ago and I have just applied for a new one all online. I got the photos in the supermarket booth (yes they make me look like a psycho killer) and used the link on that for the photo. I wasn't asked to provide details for a counter signatory. It was very, very simple. The worst thing was waiting in the PO queue to post the old passport back.
