Anyone ever had a faulty electric meter?

Our electricity supplier has requested a meter inspection as they think our meter is faulty.

Has anyone ever had this / had a faulty meter? I understand that a replacement meter will be fitted, but are we liable for any usage which was missed when billed due to a faulty meter?

We supply monthly reads, have lived here for three years, had an elec inspection as part of our survey when we were buying, and the bills/usage is in line with usage at our last home (comparable size).

Hiya. Yep, I had a faulty one. And yep, you are liable for any energy use that was not billed as a result of a faulty meter. If they can work it out / prove it that is. Which they couldn't with ours so the saga ended there.

After new meter was fitted, our bills didn't really change.

What's your family and house size? And what do you pay?

Wow I'm amazed they can back bill as how was anyone to know it was faulty. We pay 140pcm dd for gas and elec, of which around 40 is gas and 100 elec.

3bed flat, upper floor.

That bill sounds fairly high - perhaps this could even come out in your favour. But I think it's highly unlikely that you'll be charged extra so try not to worry about it. :)

It's on them to prove it anyway 💁🏻‍♀️
