Ordered mine (and not from Waterstones, seeing how they hid Helen Joyce’s book).

KittenKong · 18/01/2022 20:35

Where is a decent bookshop these days?

Excellent news. If it's as big as Troubled Blood ordering a hardback copy will be essential, not an extravagance instead of waiting for the paperback, which is my normal practice. (đŸ¦• here - don't use a Kindle or similar. I like a real book.)

Bloody hell, that's aaagees away!! I'm so desperate I'm re-reading the Cuckoo's Calling at the minute!

AutisticLegoLover · 18/01/2022 20:50

Ooooh I got them all from the dc for Christmas (via eBay/the charity shops) and I'm about to start reading the first one. I had a crush on Strike in the tv series and envy of Robyn's perfect skin.

BIWI · 18/01/2022 20:51

I look forward to it! Mind you, I hope it's better edited than the last one. It was way, way too long.

AnnaSW1 · 18/01/2022 21:02

Bloody hell I haven't read troubled blood yet either!

You go wash your mouth out with soap right now! I loved every page.

Will they, won’t they?

I am so pleased! I've been holding off on reading Troubled Blood because I don't want to run out, but now I can fit it in to my first half of the year reading. Grin

I first bought them to support JKR - never been a HP fan (tried to read one bit sound or dreadful) but was so horrified that I bought Troubled Blood when it came out - I love a good murder. Was completely sucked in and bought the whole lot.

Well written she has a really nice way with words. I also have the audiobooks (I look to listen when I’m cooking).

Excuse the typo/autocorrect (on the wine).

I am counting down the days. I will be travelling 60 or so miles to my favourite bookshop to buy it on that date. It's probably the nearest independent to me, so...

SaltedCaramelHC · 18/01/2022 22:08

I saw this today too! But I need to wait for the paperback I think, as it will match all my others - and the hardback will be so heavy. I wish you could just pay the hardback price and get the paperback version at the same time!!

SaltedCaramelHC · 18/01/2022 22:09

Last time it was about 10 months before the paperback release, after the hardcover release, so that's not until almost the next summer :o

NewYearNewMinty · 18/01/2022 22:19

It's 944 pages apparently, so slightly shorter than Troubled Blood.

I'm going for Kindle as easier to read at that size but will get a hard copy at a later date as I have all the others in both formats (and audio book Blush).

I hate hardbacks too. Wish they just went straight to paperback release
kookievee · 18/01/2022 23:03

I always audiobook Strike- read by Robert Glenister so well. Can't wait!

sociallydistained · 20/01/2022 14:09

I love a weighty hardback in my hands to be honest. I have all of them in hardback as all were first day purchases for me!

1moreglassplease · 20/01/2022 16:13

Thanks for the heads up. Just pre-ordered on Waterstones and it's only £12.50 in hardback. I've paid using my Plus points so only had to find £2.99 for postage. Roll on August Grin
