DH is due to fly to the Alps on Friday..his friend who he shares a car with, tested positive just a few hours ago. Technically he could test negative on Friday and test positive on Saturday (while on their break). WWYD?

I'd stay home. Flying when you know there's a good chance you could be contagious isn't a great idea for everyone else. Plus, if he tests positive here then he'll have to isolate in a hotel / chalet room which won't be an awful lot of fun for him.

You won't get the money back unless he tests positive though.

All the family (except me) had covid at the same time in November, we didn't isolate and I didn't catch it.

I'd go. I know of so many people who have been contacts (living in the same house and not isolating from each other) and haven't caught it. When did he last see the friend, and what's the car-sharing arrangement? (ie is it an hour every day or 15 mins once a week kind of thing).

If he tests positive while out there what happens? Does he get dumped in a covid hotel and have to pay for that?

CovidCorvid · 18/01/2022 15:44

And yes, I've just had covid. Had symptoms on monday, tested positive tuesday. I'd spent all day saturday and all day sunday with two different groups of friends, inside and for all day. Nobody caught it. I carried on sharing a bed with dh, he didn't catch it. dd hasn't caught it.

If the destination is the French Alps then it might be worth reading this:

uk.ambafrance.org/COVID-19-rules-for-travel-between-France-and-the-UK-28918#Vaccinated-people

Specifically the section about the requirement to carry an attestation that confirms that the individual attempting to enter France has “not been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to their crossing” (into France)

Onlyrainbows · 18/01/2022 16:43

It's the Swiss Alps, I don't think he needs to test there. They shared a car twice for about 1 hour total (30mins am/ 30mins pm)

I would go. I love skiing. I’ve done two years of obeying the rules (while others had parties) and I would give anything to bomb down a ski slope right now.

NannyGythaOgg · 18/01/2022 17:52

I would go

HotChoc10 · 18/01/2022 18:26

I'd go!
