Cheerful news for blue Monday

So, today is supposed to be blue Monday, the most miserable day of the year. I thought a cheerful thread of lovely things that have happened today might be nice.

I've had the exciting news that two close family members are pregnant and due within a week of each other. Also, the wolf moon as I was driving to work this morning was really beautiful, and my nephew just found out he's got the job that he really wanted.

All in all a very positive blue Monday here.

The moon was STUNNING this morning. Never heard the term ‘wolf moon’ before, I’m going to Google.
I drove my DD to work and we had takeaway coffees on the way.

I found a Burberry skirt in the charity shop for £7, and it fits, and I took the baby to a stay and play session and met some other parents which was was really nice as we are totally new to the area. Had a nice coffee in a cafe, and petted the most beautiful grey whippet called Julian.

No blues here!

lucysmam · 17/01/2022 20:42

I started my dream job this morning & loved every minute! I'm worn out this evening, but definitely no blues here :)

tobypercy · 17/01/2022 20:47

the technical work on one of my projects (meant to be complete by christmas) is finally complete!

And DS was singled out for praise at school. First time since September and he's really happy about it.

DisforDarkChocolate · 17/01/2022 20:48

A family member starts a great new job today.

I'm really excited for them.

My son is leaving a job he's not happy in this week. He's got a new one starting next month.

Mammma91 · 17/01/2022 21:01

I had my hair done today. Feel lovely and fresh. My son also had a lovely day at nursery.

Badnightguaranteed · 17/01/2022 21:04

Just watching the breaking news that Marnie Clayton, the 18 year old that had gone missing after leaving a nightclub, has been found safe.
Thank heavens.

mamaduckbone · 17/01/2022 21:07

So glad you had a great day @lucysmam - I read on another thread that you were feeling nervous.
@SlyAvocado the Burbery skirt was quite a find. I was chuffed the other week with a brand new Kin stripy top for a fiver in Oxfam. Not quite as impressive but still...
Nice to hear about some lovely and very unblue Mondays.

Thanks @mamaduckbone! I was, which is daft considering it's where I already work, and with people I see every day 🤣

whirlycarly · 17/01/2022 21:26

Julian is an excellent name for a whippet. Smile

Cocolapew · 17/01/2022 21:28

DD2 passed her driving test first time Smile

SlyAvocado · 17/01/2022 21:32

Thanks OP, that charity shop is the biz- the lovely elderly ladies put all ‘nice’ things at about £7 whether they are designer or H&M 😂 glad you got a Kin bargain! Love a charity shop find.

@whirlycarly he suited it down to the ground!

RegeJeanPageMeOnMyCellphone · 17/01/2022 21:33

It was such a lovely morning. I was looking out the window at the sun shining and the frost on the car looked like glitter. A little robin landed on the wing mirror too which was lovely.

Work also very kindly gave us all and extra break today to do something cheerful so I sat out in the sun with a cuppa.

DS and I had a little Encanto sing-a-long before bedtime which was hilarious as he’s 3 and only knows one line but utterly fabulous!

Gotthetshirt23 · 17/01/2022 21:34

@JaneExotic
Moons are often named , I've attached this years - hopefully!

Cheerful news for blue Monday
42isthemeaning · 17/01/2022 21:38

Someone in my class understood something she's been struggling with in a lightbulb moment - I love when that happens even after 20 years of teaching teenagers! Smile

JaneExotic · 17/01/2022 22:01

@Gotthetshirt23 oh thank you! I love it.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 17/01/2022 22:13

Meh. I'm laid up with covid and feel shite

But the nice news on this thread is cheering me up.

Today has been a write off as I've been depressed. But tomorrow is a new day. I'm going to wrap up and sit in the garden with a cuppa and get some fresh air.

ScouseQueen · 17/01/2022 22:16

I had a fabulous moment at work today where people were just great. Really restored my faith in human nature.

I didn't know about Marnie Clayton but I am relieved to hear that a missing young woman has been found and is safe.

TheChosenTwo · 17/01/2022 22:21

I was feeling very crappy today and a friend texted me to ask if I wanted to go for a walk after work. I said yes and felt so much better for it, a walk and a laugh was much needed, distracted me momentarily from the shit going round in a loop in my head.
So that was a positive.

OldWivesTale · 17/01/2022 22:25

@lucysmam

Ooh, what are you doing?
lucysmam · 18/01/2022 06:56

@OldWivesTale I'm a TA in nursery - not everybody's cup of tea but I've wanted it for a while :)

OldWivesTale · 18/01/2022 08:11

@lucysmam sounds fab. I'm always so envious of people who love their jobs. Well done for finding one that you love!
