Stationery…desperately in search of….

I love stationery! I’m one of these people who needs a new notebook for every project 😁

I have an entire house to renovate so obviously need new stationery…I’m being slightly tongue in cheek saying that, as I really do need to keep everything together…I need to keep notes for ideas, which a project book would be suitable for, but what I also need is something to keep the additional paperwork in-quotes, invoices etc….I’ve looked at conference folders which might be ok, but the notebook part on any I’ve seen doesn’t seem to take a substantial notebook, just a scrappy notepad type thing

Any ideas? (I can be quite speedy for this-up to about £100 for the right thing)

Try stationery shops.

@languagelover96

Try stationery shops.
Wow I’d never have thought of that-thanks so much…

Try Etsy, there is some amazing Japanese stationery on there

Wish I had this when we moved and re-did our house. Is there enough folder space though? I did find that most invoices etc are electronic now though! Could you not have an electronic folder for invoices and just scan the odd paper only one in?

I love stationery too, and have some beautiful notebooks, but nothing ever seems worthy of them... Renovating an entire house would qualify though; good luck in your search.

the-happiness-project.com/collections/journals/products/memento-keepsake-journal I quite like the look of this one - you do have to get it shipped from the US, but it's got lots of flexibility for how you use it.

I’ll have a look, thanks.

I can’t do this electronically! I already have a fair bit of actual paperwork, and I’m enough of a dinosaur to be utterly rubbish at filing electronically!

And did I mention I love stationery 😂

@BrieAndChilli I’m salivating at your link! That could be the very thing!

You are looking for either an accordion file or an expanding file. Some have pockets to hold a notebook in the front. You can also go for either a a4 hard back notebook that has indented month dividers where each month represents to you a different quote topic. The issue is that the outside of quotes and invoices will get frayed.

LemonDrizzles · 17/01/2022 13:50

Something like this

m.shein.co.uk/1pc-Multi-layer-Random-File-Pocket-p-1669623-cat-2271.html?url_from=ukadplassstorage18200928695one-size&gclid=CjwKCAiAxJSPBhAoEiwAeO_fP99chlad6slm-w_15JWcMcpZiUIDpUsiOXh5CR_6JVSnkDgGLQsS1BoC-2sQAvD_BwE&ref=www&rep=dir&ret=m

I have found clear plastics to be the best. Then inside you can have clear slip coloured ones (my system is blue for info, yellow is to be actioned)

LemonDrizzles · 17/01/2022 13:51

Or you can have a slim d ring notebook with a lot of clear pockets and 5 dividers.

I am a self-confessed stationary lover and also a tiny bit of a hoarder when it comes to papers/notebooks/lists etc.

Having said that, during our ongoing house renovation I have become hooked on Notion. It took an hour or so to get the hang of how to use it property, but since then I am a complete convert!

Quotes and documents I take photo's of and then either throw away or put in a box file. I've only had to keep the physical copies of a handful of guarantees for things.

You can nest pages into projects, to do lists, calendars, timelines (God, I know I sound obsessed). It has really helped me organise the whole reno, which has been a far more overwhelming process than I initially thought.

burnoutbabe · 17/01/2022 13:58

these pukka pads have dividers, is hard covered and the dividers let you put a bit of paperwork in.

Or, a conference folder but use some nice coloured paper (search for dyslexic paper) as the notepads? but then you may as well use a ring folder and put the different colour pads in already, with dividers and punched pockets for invoices that are not nice a4 size.

Hugoslavia · 17/01/2022 13:58

Search for home renovation planners. Etsy has a great big black leather one.

FidoRido · 17/01/2022 14:02

An interior designer’s account I follow on Instagram made something expressly for this purpose…. I can’t quite picture who it was but I think perhaps Kate Watson-Smythe (her Instagram is mad about the house or something like that, and she has a website). Or look on Rita Konig’s website. I feel like she might sell one.

I want one of these now and I am not even moving house!

I've got a "stationery system" called arc from Staples that's my project notebook. I couldn't find it online, but its like this but in A4. I bought different types of paper and inserts (lined, squared, to do lists, plastic pockets) so I could write, sketch plans and keep receipts and printouts all in one place. You can move the dividers so I have a section for each room or area of development.

farendoftether · 17/01/2022 14:49

What about an old school A4 Filofax?

Plumpciousness · 17/01/2022 15:52

Low tech solution: a lever-arch file (with slots in the front, to keep the whole thing stable - like
Exacompta) with a spiral notebook with pre-punched holes (like Silvine).

File paperwork as normal in the lever-arch file and you can store the notebook in there too because it will fit onto the metal filing mechanism.

JudgeRindersMinder · 17/01/2022 17:21

@ShesComeUndone it’s amazing isn’t it!

@farendoftether you might just be onto something, I’d been looking for A4, but full size Filofax might be the way forward
