How do I stop harassment from telemarketing companies from abroad?

Any idea? I politely asked the guy who called me today to please remove my number from his system and he threatened to call me continuously every day (although presumably he knows I won't give him money for his scam Confused)

I've identified the pattern that the number tend to be (as someone has indeed called me every day) but just concerned I'll miss an important call

I've been registered with TPS for ages but the call centre is in (presumably) India so that doesn't seem to work.

Annoyingly they must have got my number from 02 as my mum took out the contract in her name when I was 17 and I have kept that number so her name would only ever have been connected to that number in that specific place.

To add to my post up thread , I don't know how effective it would be with landlines but on mobile's, if it's s number you don't know answer with a made up name or just your 1st name ( which they will have any way) with a very business like response ie

Good afternoon , British homes, Newyear speaking how can I help. Then when they are Bit non plusses tell them they have got through to businesses line and please remove thus number from your list.
It's polite but firm and gives them no room for manoeuvre.

Award your self points for each company name you can come up with , the stranger , but still sort if believable the better.

If your DC is shouting , you are a head teacher at a school for gifted screaming children

If your dog is barking you area vet about up castrate said pooch

No noise ? You are teaching shrews how to sleep .

Lots of back ground chatter , you are at a call centre that they are calling from

Let your imagination run wild !

Is this a landline or a mobile?

Your best bet is to not answer at all.

@skyeisthelimit

My parents bought call blocking phones, so that unknown callers are announced before you accept them. That stopped the calls.
We have similar-it's called TrueCall, and you can set it to "zap" unwanted numbers, so that they don't get through.www.truecall.co.uk/

I pretend not to speak English. They never ring again.
