Hi all!
Just wanted to get some opinions/ advice on how to tackle this one because it’s been p*ssing me off for a while now and I feel like I need to say something.

My neighbours over the road have had their Christmas “lights” up for over 2 years now and have never taken them down. They added some new lights this Christmas just gone and when they switched them all on the ones that have been up years didn’t work but they didn’t bother take them down and they are still there now plus the new ones Hmm I’m so sick of looking at tacky faded snowmen and Santa’s swinging off moons and balloons all year round.

I saw them fitting an entire cctv system around the lights in summer although it was hilarious to watch I admit watching them lifting the lights to manoeuvre the cables round.. but now there’s wires everywhere it’s such a mess and the house front is complete eye sore everytime I look out my window.

They also leave kiddies toys all over the garden, they have 2/3 cars being dismantled on the drive at present and 6 bins all overflowing! Is it just me overreacting at their sheer laziness? Or would anyone else feel the same looking out at such a state everyday and if so how would you approach it in the nicest way possible Smile

Well they’re now a constant presence. Unfortunately you cannot police your neighbours’ taste.

You could gift them some trees or perhaps plant them yourself in the dead of night and then before you know it in five or six years time you won’t be able to see their tawdry lights or even their house anymore -

Sounds dire - love Christmas but Christmas stiff after early Jan looks tawdry and depressing. That said not sure there’s much you can actually do

Our 'across the road' neighbours had their outdoor Christmas lights set to flicker. It was awful for us and others and, I felt, hazardous for road users so I spoke to them and they changed the setting. No-one got angry.

I wouldn't like it either but, as everyone has already said, there is nothing you can do.

Lol at the posters who see your thread title then click on it, then post on it just to tell you it's irritating. 😅

They probably never look at your house, and they are not too bothered about other people and their views, They probably think that their tangled and mixed up Christmas lights, are a work of art, so leave them for others to see.And car jobs need to be done at home, to save garage fees, if they a good at being mechanics.
