I'm fairly sure Dad wasn't really into films - I don't recall him ever mentioning a favourite - but Mum certainly had a few. Mainly big classic war films such as The Longest Day, Where Eagles Dare and The Cruel Sea. She was also a fan of unashamedly soppy stuff like Brief Encounter, The Wind Cannot Read and Love Story. For context, both M&D were born in the 1930s.

My favourite film for umpteen years is Gregory's Girl, which I think Mum quite liked too.

Do I count? My oldest granddaughter is29. My main film going years were late 1940s to early 1960s when the children arrived. One early memory was Jane Eyre (the Orson Welles one). I was taken because Margaret O'Brien (my age) was in it. Great Expectations ( Magwitch wanting 'vittels'} The usual war films; at university we sometimes went twice a day. Dr Zhivago was great, especially the daffodils after the interval.

My DM is in her late 50s

We’re both agreed that Con Air is one of the greatest films ever made.

The only film I remember my Dad seeing at the cinema was the last Pink Panther one with Peter Sellers, around about 1978. The whole family went to see it one evening but I don't remember much about it.

Barefoot In The Park was probably my Mum's favourite, if I had to pick just one.
