Grey and green won’t work well, in my opinion.

See attached for shade options.

The OP has shown a pic of her current patterned curtains.

But why would you paint the same colour as those very dark green curtains? Surely it'll be too much?

Don't paint walls green. Now I've seen your second picture the middle grey is a much better idea. But that grey is still too dark. You need a lighter grey for a big kitchen / diner area, anything too dark would be too much.

Oblomov22 · 16/01/2022 12:53

The grey / yellow curtains are lovely and go with both greens. 2. The darker one.

DownWhichOfLate · 16/01/2022 12:54

Neither. How about mustard yellow paint?

Shapiro · 16/01/2022 12:55

Personally I wouldn’t have a specific colour for the walls. Keep the walls neutral to optimise space and light and then you can just change soft furnishings such as cushions and curtains when you need a change.

rocky1914 · 16/01/2022 12:57

@greenlynx

Neither imo. I think it will give unbalanced feeling of green. The idea of feature wall is to stand out, green curtains next to it will destroy this.
This.
WowIlikereallyhateyou · 16/01/2022 12:57

You could get away with both. I would go a lighter tonal colour, as it will impact on the light in the room.

The lightest shade here will look the best, and the room will seem larger.
NoSquirrels · 16/01/2022 13:00

This is the sort of shade that would work with the dark green curtains. Note the warmer contrasting accent colours too.

Why do you need curtains?
You are removing the whole benefit of having large windows/doors. There is not enough wall pace for them to hang clear

IbizaNamechanger · 16/01/2022 13:15

Ohhh you are really making me think now @TheHoptimist it would be colder without though

piney07 · 16/01/2022 13:15

Definitely option 1 goes better and is also a nicer green. More bottle green. Not sure I like the bluey green as much. Option 1 is our bathroom and I still love it - very calming colour

piney07 · 16/01/2022 13:18

Just saw alternative curtains - the option 1 green still goes better with those.

I disagree with everyone telling you to paint the walls grey - snooze fest! Go for a bold colour.

MrsCat1 · 16/01/2022 13:20

Agree with @TheHoptimist. No curtains is the way to go.

I'm not sure about having the curtains the same colour as the wall 🤔

Love the idea of the green wall though!

MakeUsACuppa · 16/01/2022 13:26

Completely different but you could go for a deep navy on the wall.

iluvnettletea · 16/01/2022 13:26

I like option 1 best.

IbizaNamechanger · 16/01/2022 13:36

This shows the shades better thanks all think I will need curtains otherwise heating bill will be insane.
I prefer shade but going with 1 and green curtains obviously not a popular choice but I think it will work better and kids prefer colour 1 too 😊😂

That yellow colour you have (a cushion?) directly behind the green curtains would look amazing as a feature wall…

IsolaPribby · 16/01/2022 14:06

I think the colour for the curtains is fine, but too dark for a whole wall. I would go for a lighter colour paint, and pick up the dark green in accessories and accents.
