Looking for sporty leggings for a short slim 12 year old. The ones that fit her waist are too short. If they fit lengthwise the waist is enormous. Help! In uk

Do you mean short and slim? Confused why shorter lengths are too big in waist, i would expect longer length to be too big in waist.

Mine has always has, and still, wears clothes 1-2 sizes down ; ie at 11 wearing 9-10. Never had a problem in length or waist that way

Yes..we shop down sizes..in leggings in order for the waist fit we would have to buy age 8 ish but then they are too short....

Surely you mean tall and slim? Otherwise what you say doesn't make sense?

I'm guessing she means short but not short enough for an 8 year old waist size to be the right length

Have you tried going to a proper sports shop?
My Dd is slim, when we had to buy leggings for sports we got them from the sports shop and they sold them by waist size rather than age.

Just looked at dd's and they say waist 20/22, which I think is pretty small, and length is fine (and Dd isn't particularly short, they are ankle grazing, but I think that's more fashionable anyway.)

I do mean short! We have tried sports shops...tbf dd hates the 3/4 length...she would .I've them normal length

Dd is a similar body shape and she finds Decathlon good as their sizes suit her (if we go a size down too) although the choice isn’t great.

Size 4 adult leggings and cut them off and hem them?

H&M usually has longer lengths for ages on comparison to other suppliers. They also do age 8-10 which may be a fair fit

LittleMissA · 20/01/2022 22:52

I get my daughter running leggings online from tikiboo, she's slim waisted and not too tall so has just moved into aged 12, her aged 10 still fit but are slightly cropped. If the kids are too short for her she will prob be fine in an adults xxs.

Mosaic123 · 20/01/2022 23:00

A dry cleaners will take them up for you.

PyjamaMamma · 20/01/2022 23:14

I have one of those - small, slim 12 year olds - and her leggings are from adidas. She wears one size down. They’re called tights on their website - I think they fit nicely because they’re meant to be very snug on normal sized children so they look slightly loose but not massive if it makes sense? Though obviously yours might be smaller than mine. Smile

Pinkandpink · 20/01/2022 23:24

Yes we use Adidas too

Pucarbuile · 20/01/2022 23:42

Linden is a Swedish brand I buy online for dd. You can filter by the child's height so you might find something there

*Lindex
