Hi everyone, just wondering which of these girls names you prefer? Excepting a baby girl soon. Thanks

OP posts:

Freya would be my choice of the three, quite popular at the moment but such a lovely name

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2022 19:08

Me too. Emilia sounds a bit weak, Leyla a bit... hm, not sure... but Freya is lovely.

Itsacakebaby · 15/01/2022 19:10

Definitely Emilia.

Hi. My youngest is Freya and I love it plus it’s not too popular where we live , she’s the only one at her nursery. I do love Emilia too but there’s too many samey names in our families unfortunately!

DarkCorner · 15/01/2022 19:15

Emilia definitely. A lovely name although I’d think about what nick names you’d use or if you’d insist on full name. I like emmie better than Millie but both are cute.

RussianSpy101 · 15/01/2022 19:18

Definitely Emilia! Beautiful name.

sageandbasil · 15/01/2022 19:20

Emilia

weebarra · 15/01/2022 19:21

I have a Freya and while there's another one in her class, they're the only 2 at her 400 pupil school. I do like Leyla and Emilia too. Other names on my list for DD were Astrid, Mairi and Susanna.

BrutusMcDogface · 15/01/2022 19:22

Leila, spelled like that, or Freya, as there are hundreds of Emilia/Amelias where I live.

MogsBestestFurball · 15/01/2022 19:25

You already posted one baby name thread in Chat today. There's a whole board of Mumsnet dedicated to baby names ...

itsgettingweird · 15/01/2022 19:27

Freya.

LadyFlumpalot · 15/01/2022 19:28

I wanted Freyja (Danish heritage so wanted the Norse spelling) but DH wasn't keen. In the end we went for Emily as a compromise between Amelia, Millie and Emma. No other Emily's in our (small) primary school but quite a few Amelia/Emilias.

IamfromBarcelona · 15/01/2022 19:29

I like Emilia

fleurpots · 15/01/2022 19:30

Layla sounds absolutely awful in the regional accent where I'm from, so I've always really disliked it. Like the other two.

toastofthetown · 15/01/2022 19:34

There’s a Baby Name section here.

For me all those names are so wishy washy and bland that they are much of a muchness. All popular though, so not objectively bad.

Roselilly36 · 15/01/2022 19:37

Freya is lovely, I also like Layla. Not too keen on Emilia.

Kitkat151 · 15/01/2022 19:38

Freya is fine
Really dislike Layla
emilia is a nothing name...very boring but inoffensive

CormoranStrike · 15/01/2022 19:38

Freya is absolutely lovely, I wish I had used it

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 19:39

Out of those I think freia then Amelia.

Layla = Eric Clapton as soon as read started going round in head wailing LAY-LAAAAAA you got me on my knees etc so personally hard no to much chance getting it sung at her by all she sundry. It's pretty annoying and would drive her bananas.

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 19:41

OP ask mnhq to get moved or possibly you might get loads of people just asking to move it!

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/01/2022 19:42

Definitely Freya

stairway · 15/01/2022 19:42

We have a Leila, it’s arabic for night. Not sure why it’s so popular in the UK though.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/01/2022 19:43

They are all names I short listed. Freya is my favourite, followed by Emilia and then Leila (I prefer this spelling)

CrackerGal · 15/01/2022 19:44

They're all nice but Freya stands out more I think

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 15/01/2022 19:53

Depends on how you pronounce Emilia- I'd say Em-ah-lee-ah but aware some still say Em-ee-lee-ah (like Clarke). I prefer the first pronunciation. I know an Emelia which to me is a better pronunciation for 2nd example, like Amelia (oh dear lets not get started on that one 😆), but starting Em.

So yes love Emilia then Freya
