Ikea Strandmon armchair

I've acquired a lovely strandmon armchair secondhand but need to take it apart to fit it up some stairs. As you have to assemble it I assumed it comes apart again but cannot get the winged arm pieces off! Google hasn't helped (though I cried laughing at some of the comments on this video

Has anyone managed to take one of these chairs apart again? Any magic tips?!

When we put ours on, they were very tight. Presumably they’d be tight to take off (up and out movement?)

When you put them on you had to put them into a slot then push the arms and side down. I assume you have tried lifting g the arm straight up?

You may need to weigh the chair down before doing it. X

Yes I've looked at the instructions so can see the kind of fitting it is and was also working on the theory they need to come straight up and then out, but it's difficult to find something to grip onto and even with quite a lot of force I just can't get them to budge!
