Why post this on Facebook?

"How much does it cost to get a taxi from Chapeltown to Ilkley? My ex is being an arse and won't take me"

Why post that instead of actually calling a taxi company and asking?

Because the poster wants everyone to know their ex is an arse, and chime in with sympathy.

Poppins2016 · 15/01/2022 02:55

They're probably hoping that someone will offer to take them...

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 15/01/2022 02:58

Yep
@Poppins2016 and @VimFuego101 have nailed it

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 15/01/2022 03:00

Tell them it’s £16 on the train

ForTheLoversOutThere · 15/01/2022 03:00

Whats to bitch about Ex and is hoping that sometime takes them for free

I hate when folk do that. Someone posted on our local fb the other day asking if anyone knew what time the chemist was closed for lunch 🙄 Again why would you not phone and ask.

SpidersAreShitheads · 15/01/2022 03:13

I mean you could also legitimately wonder.....why post on Mumsnet and ask why someone is asking that question on Facebook, when you know exactly what the reason is.....

You are obviously well aware why they've posted the question. It's the same reason that you posted this here.

Sympathy. Validation. The chance to complain... 😅

If they’re anything like our local chemist (only one in town and would need to do 20 mile round trip to another town for next nearest chemists) they don’t routinely answer the phone, aren’t necessarily open their advertised hours due to sharing pharmacists with other branches of the same company and, when they are open, routinely quote 2-3 hours for a prescription to be filled; therefore it’s quite common for there to be questions on the local fb groups asking if they’re open and, if so, what hours!

I stay in a village with one pharmacy. Since time began its closed from 1pm.to 130pm.
There's rarely any more than 2 or 3 folk in at a time, they do prescriptions while you wait & I've never known the phone not be answered 😂😂

tabulahrasa · 15/01/2022 05:48

Because they want people to know their ex is being an arse, and they’re probably hoping someone else will offer them a lift - given I don’t know how much a taxi is, but I know it wouldn’t be a small amount.

GlitterSquid · 15/01/2022 06:58

Oh god I hate this. I have friends who constantly post the minutiae of their lives.

'Kids at school, been to the post office, walked the dog, washed up, bought bread....phew! Time for a cuppa!'

NO ONE CARES!

And another who has insisted on typing long and lengthy updates on how their relative has been doing in hospital every day.

'X has gone down for more blood tests this morning, can't believe they've kept him in. He had a good night and the nurse says'......yada yada yada...........

NO ONE CARES!

gunnersgold · 15/01/2022 07:06

Because they are hoping for a free lift .. seems obvious to me ..
Also as above I have 50 year old friends that post shite about their day . Surely you would have grown out of it by then . Literally no one cares !!! 🤣

MinnieJackson · 15/01/2022 07:12

@GlitterSquid I hate this! When I had Facebook a woman used to do this. Just everyday fucking things that you do Confused hoovering, walked the dogs, making this for tea. It escalated when she joined a MLM! Now it was the vitamins or juices giving her these superpowers! She's in my bad books anyway as her daughter stole my sons among us keyring off his bag on Thursday and brazenly had it on her bag! He took it back yesterday 😂

Youngstreet · 15/01/2022 07:30

I had a fb friend, dsil’s old school friend, she would openly beg for cigarettes on fb. Or invite any near fb friends round ‘but they must bring wine.’
She told dsil that she always made nice comments on my fb page because she wanted an invite to our holiday home!
I finally blocked her but I do miss her antics.

embolass · 15/01/2022 07:39

Why post anything on Facebook ?

WakeUpLockie · 15/01/2022 07:40

I don’t get why anyone would expect their ex to take them anywhere, particularly if they’re an arse, let alone post it on FB.

I know people who live on Facebook and then talk to you as if you do too - ‘did you see that XYZ happened?’….. where would I see that and why would I care ? Just can’t fathom that people aren’t obsessed with FB.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 15/01/2022 08:55

Really unsure why I need sympathy ... or validation. Or what I am complaining about! Confirmation, maybe, that it was to be noticed, or perhaps wondering how common this is - I'd genuinely not thought that they were trying to make their ex look a fool.

I mean, why does anyone post on Mumsnet at all ......

“I don’t get why anyone would expect their ex to take them anywhere”

Well I’d assume they’d agreed to...and possibly the taxi is going to be too expensive, there’s not many people living in chapeltown with loads of money, because most people don’t live there by choice.
