What is good to do in Oxford?

DH and I will be going away for a weekend at the end of the month and we'd like to go to Oxford. Can people who know the city well recommend places to eat and drink, and interesting things to do?

We like museums, live music, plays, film and poking around shops, especially antiques or small independent shops. Also markets and gardens. Any ideas gratefully accepted!

Colleges nice, the old jail house is meant to be great, lovely shops, theatre, bookshops! Bus tours - lots to do

The Ashmolean Museum usually has something really interesting on.

The Cherwell Boathouse is always good and you can go punting afterwards: cherwellboathouse.co.uk/

If you like gardens, the Botanic Garden is lovely: www.obga.ox.ac.uk/

If you happen to like Alice in Wonderland, Alices Shop, Cafe Loco, ChristChurch and Christchurch meadow are all worth a visit. All on or off St Aldates.

For museums, Pitt Rivers is great for strange and wonderful artefacts.
