AutumnAlmanack · 14/01/2022 17:30

Footage has now emerged of Starmer at a drinks do with colleagues last year!! Who said it was ''one rule for some, another for others'??? This will be interesting.

OP posts:
Bluebluemoon39 · 14/01/2022 18:33

If Starmer is a couple of hundred miles from home, spending all day, into the evening, in an office at work, is he not supposed to eat at any point?

I'm sure he could've sent a lackey for a meal-deal. Co-ops were open throughout!

And I hope that beer was alcohol free - anything else and he was obviously out to have a good time!

Bluebluemoon39 · 14/01/2022 18:35

looking like they are enjoying themselves

Disgusting!!!

Who on earth would enjoy themselves at a Labour backbenchers gathering?

kirinm · 14/01/2022 18:35

The desperation on here to try and pretend Starmer is anything like Boris Johnson is hilarious. This isn't anything new, it's been around for a while and hasn't got any traction.

Honestly embarrassed for those trying to compare.

kirinm · 14/01/2022 18:39

Even the Daily Mail don't try to claim it's a party! Did you read the article OP?

kirinm · 14/01/2022 18:41

@Bluebluemoon39

Hmmm, interesting.

Yes, expect to see lots of little "leaks" like this over the coming weeks!

You don't think the tories would have leaked something at the time Allegra Stratton was caught laughing about the party? This is all the Tory party have and they've now wracked up 17 parties.

If you look again , it also shows people in the background ( near the door ) standing whilst talking to someone else , holding a plate eating. In my book a group of people eating / drinking , standing around looking like they are enjoying themselves = very likely party.[/quote]
This is just embarrassingly desperate. No one on the Hartlepool campaign trail for the Labour Party was in the mood for a party, even if restrictions hadn’t existed.

Kezzie200 · 14/01/2022 18:42

OP I'm.pretty sure fact check have shown this footage to be at a time when it was allowed.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 14/01/2022 18:45

@Lolamento

Same shit different party. Only thing is lefties shout the loudest.
Oh please - they are not remotely similar!

Hold the phone, that makes, um, 5 or six people, in an office, one with a bottle and one eating off a plate? Where's my pearls, I need something to clutch Hmm

sleezeandwineparty · 14/01/2022 18:50

@AutumnAlmanack

Sorry, I don't know how to insert a link! It's on the Daily Mail website.
Grintell me the date and I might be interested.

I've worked evening events and it looks like dinner before more work, to me.

I wish people would focus on the insanity of the rules rather than this sort of thing. I suppose of people believed in them, they can't, but how could they have believed in them?!

Kezzie200 · 14/01/2022 18:56

Anyone trying desperately to show Keir is like Boris needs to start with their own moral compass.

This hero worship does go someway to illustrate how he has got away with everything he does. Why should he change. Life's a game.

Player067 · 14/01/2022 18:56

Absolutely desperate stuff

Sort0f · 14/01/2022 18:58

This is like the time Starmer was accused of being a greedy landowner because he bought a field by his mums house, so his disabled mum could watch the rescued donkeys on it.

Nesbo · 14/01/2022 18:58

Hang on, hang on. You don’t suppose…they’re trying to change the narrative because they can’t defend Johnson?

Surely not.

Unsure33 · 14/01/2022 19:22

@SpindleyCrow

A) Starmer isn't the Prime Minister

B) Starmer isn't part of the government which made the rules

C) Starmer having a beer in an office in 2021 as compared to the piss-ups at Downing Street while the Queen was preparing to bury her husand is the comparison of a political fucking idiot, Nicola Murray you vapid wanker

Yes but he has been taking the moral high ground about an outside event . So it is relevant
Frostine · 14/01/2022 19:30

I don't want to defend neither parties,
it is my view that all politicians are out to feather their own nests .
I'm just saying that during a time when we were told no meeting of people in homes , they both look like they fail those regulations.

AlexaShutUp · 14/01/2022 19:35

@CorrBlimeyGG

It was in May 2021, when indoor household mixing was not allowed except for work purposes. It was during the Hartlepool by-election. They'd been campaigning during the day and holding zoom meetings with campaigners during the evening. During a break between these meetings they had dinner and had a beer.

Even the DM can't bring themselves to call it a party. Because it wasn't.

They're pretty desperate, aren't they?!
PurpleDaisies · 14/01/2022 19:36

I'm just saying that during a time when we were told no meeting of people in homes , they both look like they fail those regulations.

For social purposes.

Starmer isn’t in his home.

All politicians are out to feather their own nests. The vast majority choose a life of public service at considerable expenses to their privacy, relationships and family life. The narratives that politicians are all as bad as each other is a political tactic of those who are corrupt. ‘Well it doesn’t matter because the rest are just as bad.’

MarshaBradyo · 14/01/2022 19:42

I looked up the video

It is scraping the barrel but also imagining who filmed it

Plus finding the level of news pretty depressing these days

Flynnqwer · 14/01/2022 19:46

Are not out to feather their nests. Wish you could edit posts on Mumsnet.

rrhuth · 14/01/2022 19:53

@ClaudineClare

Barrels are being scraped here. There is nothing that Starmer has done that can even begin to compare to what No. 10 has been up to.

Johnson is finished. No wonder he has gone into hiding, the coward.

Agree.

It hardly looks very exciting, this wild event Starmer was at... because it was not a social event.

rrhuth · 14/01/2022 19:54

@Sort0f

Oh yes that was an excellent one!
RonaLisa · 14/01/2022 19:56

I'm not in the slightest bit surprised, as it was clear all along that there was nothing much to worry about and that this was hysteria whipped up for no evident reason (I still don't understand why). I went to parties during lockdown, but not at Downing Street.
