What would you be and why?
I think I’d of liked to be Italian or Spanish.
Beautiful Mediterranean weather. Amazing food. Close family culture. Everything seems so much slower paced.

Benefits system, free healthcare, worker’s rights etc. Could be a lot lot worse!

Could also be a lot better... Honestly... It's great compared to the US, am sure, but otherwise it's some of the worse in Europe!

IWillFartOnYourCake · 14/01/2022 17:47

I was born with Italian nationality. In Slough.

I'm sorry. It should have been the other way round. Sad

Peakypolly · 14/01/2022 17:48

Kyrgyz, just so people say "You are from where?" and even London cabbies wouldn't have an opinion on it.
But seriously, I'm very happy being British.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 14/01/2022 17:49

American. I always wanted to be an actress and there are loads more opportunities than here.

ArbleMarchTFruitbat · 14/01/2022 17:51

French

I'm a Francophile

flippertyop · 14/01/2022 17:52

I am very happy to be British and I am a dual national so I am also in the EU but I guess USA would be my third choice

Suzi888 · 14/01/2022 17:52

Italian - same reasons as you.

TheVanguardSix · 14/01/2022 17:52

Kyrgyz, just so people say "You are from where?

My friend had a lodger from there and it was just a pleasure thinking, "You're the only one I've ever met... and will likely ever meet!" There's something kind of fascinating about people from unusual countries. It's just one of those nationalities. It's like Iceland. I have never met a person from Iceland nor have I been there. Yet it's so close!

Bluebluemoon39 · 14/01/2022 17:56

I'm British and happy about it.

Maybe wouldn't mind a bit of Italian confidence and style.

Bagadverts · 14/01/2022 17:57

Now French for EU, before happy being British.

Okay? I was simply saying it’s easy to look at other countries and say they’re so much more fantastic, but I look at where I am and think I have a pretty good life here and it’s a good country to be born in!

I did say I would probably go Swedish or Danish, but as pps have said it’s not utopia there either. No country is.

FindingMeno · 14/01/2022 18:00

Swedish.

AgnesNaismith · 14/01/2022 18:02

I look Dutch but the Spanish lifestyle would suit me

BusySittingDown · 14/01/2022 18:03

I'm proud to be British but I'd love to have Spanish heritage. I love the dark features: dark eyes, hair and tanned skin. I love the language too.

DH and DD2 often get mistaken for being Spanish and I always feel so jealous when they do.

LaQuern · 14/01/2022 18:03

Swedish definitely

lollipoprainbow · 14/01/2022 18:04

Swedish or danish or Norwegian !

IWanderedLonely · 14/01/2022 18:19

Welsh - love North Wales, love hearing the language and the accent. (I'm English)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/01/2022 18:22

Canadian.

Xmasbaby11 · 14/01/2022 18:25

Scandinavian! Love the climate and lifestyle, would also love to be bilingual. Also I'd be much slimmer if I lived there as I don't like the food much and junk food is expensive. I studied in Norway and have lived in various other countries.

jclm · 14/01/2022 18:27

Italy is one of the most beautiful places in the world so probably there.

Or else Iceland, Denmark, Norway - fascinating places... Definitely a European country as due to the proximity of other cultures, countries and languages. Would not choose the US or Australia for that reason.

GinJeanie · 14/01/2022 18:29

@TheVanguardSix - I love the way you write and I also love the sound of the aunties! 💐

Malariahilaria · 14/01/2022 18:32

Ideally I'd be half Spanish (southern) and half british. Half Spanish so I could speak the language, love the food, the attitude and the sun. But the love the fuck it attitude of the British, the feminism, the sarcasm and the cities. I'm half South African which has sun but buggered if I can be bothered to fly 12 hours for it, plus the sexism is 1940s.

Lolamento · 14/01/2022 18:45

@nobodysdaughter

An American, in LA if possible
Me too!
TooManyPJs · 14/01/2022 18:47

If go for any nationality where the weather was better but I had a more sun friendly skin colour. Perhaps Mediterranean somewhere. I really like Greece. Ummm!

I would just love to frolic about in the sun without constantly having to apply factor 50 to every inch (and worry that I've missed a spot or two or it's gone off in the water. Plus wear a hat or scarf so my scalp doesn't burn. Just to be able to stroll out and sit in the garden for 10 mins without hours of preparation!! And then cover up as even the factor 50 doesn't cut it all day! And also would love to have no need for fake tan on the pasty corn beef legs. Takes all the fun out of summer.

DockOTheBay · 14/01/2022 18:49

Probably Australia or New Zealand
