Air purifier newbie - help, please!

Hi. I have just bought an air purifier and wanted to ask some questions about how best to use it.

The reason I bought the unit is that our neighbours sometimes tinker with cars on their driveway (some kind of side hustle, I think). It's generally ok and not a nuisance but now and then engine revving leads to an absolute stench of diesel drifting through our front door and through the stairs and hallway sad They are ok otherwise and I don't want the hassle of complaining to them if I can avoid it, so I just want to clear the air fast (literally) when such things happen.

I think the best place to site the air purifier is in the hallway near the front door to nip the problem in the bud if and when it recurs. DH thinks we'd be better off having it in the living room as we spend more time there. If I light a candle in the living room and have the purifier on its most sensitive (allergen) mode, it registers poor air quality really fast, going up to 10. We have a small house and this suggests to me that the air is circulating well enough.

So:
Where do you site your air purifier?
Do you have it on continuously or just turn it on as and when needed?
Do you move it around from room to room much?

TIA

This is fantastic.

We have two. One in the main living room and another in our bedroom. Easily portable and do a great job.

I can’t see the point of putting it in the hall.
