m.independent.ie/irish-news/news/teacher-ashling-22-killed-by-a-stranger-during-random-attack-on-popular-tullamore-jogging-route-41234834.html

Another beautiful young girl with her life ahead of her murdered. She'd only just graduated and started as a teacher. Not sure if it's filtered through to UK news yet. So upsetting. Imagine her little class today. First class is the third year of infant school in Ireland.

Oh that poor beautiful girl 😢
I wish the justice was swift and merciless.

I've just seen this on lunchtime news (NI). Jesus it's horrendous. Looks like they got the guy though.

That poor girl, and yes thinking of her wee class as well.

immersivereader · 13/01/2022 13:59

Just seen this. Absolutely unbelievable

MrsPotatoHead22 · 13/01/2022 14:00

Saw this too. Completely devastating and it happened where a pregnant woman went missing 25 years ago.

Thethreecs · 13/01/2022 14:00

I'm in Ireland too and it's very sad that that this happened. Jogging at 4pm and lots of people about.

It's just not safe anywhere.

Is that the same canal route Fiona Pender went missing from?

Polkadotties · 13/01/2022 14:00

Just another one to add to the list. Fuck all will get done about it

It is absolutely awful, I can’t imagine her terror

Public place, daylight, around other people etc. Ie, all the things we are told are safe

The chances of you being murdered are slim.
OhWhyNot · 13/01/2022 14:01

Just read this tragic news. Makes me so sad and angry

A man is being questioned. Again male violence his ethnicity is irrelevant

Atla · 13/01/2022 14:03

He was in Ireland not the UK. I don't see what his immigration status has to do with it tbh. Another young woman with her whole life ahead of her killed by a man.

MrsTaytodarling · 13/01/2022 14:49

So sad...can't stop thinking of her Sad

Carolenarua · 13/01/2022 14:56

So upsetting ! Listening to coverage of it on rte.. RIP

Ifitistobesaid · 13/01/2022 14:58

Just awful. And I bet she thought it would be safe going at 4pm before the sun set. RIP Aisling.

I hope rather than everyone jumping on the fact that he is Romanian, they see it for what it is. Another man deciding to murder a women, because they can. It's awful you can hear a story as shocking as this, and not be shocked. If it was a British man, would you be shocked? No, because it has been. Too many times.

Not likely. "Romanian" and #NotAllMen are trending on Twitter.

And it doesn't appear to be Romanian in the sense of NotAllRomainians either.
