I suppose so, I just wanted it to sound right (from English into Polish)

Google translate is a hit and miss tool. You need to have a pretty good level of a language to get anything more than a basic use out of it.

You can't trust it for a grammatically correct translation unless you are near to fluent yourself. It is best for lazy linguists!

google translate is useful if you know the language, otherwiese the results could be are either hilarious or insulting or have downright nothing to do with the original meaning.

I always copy the translated text and then translate it back into English in another tab to see if it makes sense and then change the English if needed.

(I tried writing something like 'Jane is wearing the red top' to identify a child on a photo and Google Translate translated 'top' as 'summit' which made no sense at all!)

Nancy
I did that once together with a native speaker of the target language to a normal sentence without unusual words - back and forth until the translation was stable.
We had lots of fun - but the result had nothing to do with the original.
