Songs for mental health?

Intothelight123 · 12/01/2022 19:33

Laying on my bed, earphones in, music up and I need more things to listen to, so far I've listened to:
Stand up from Harriet
This is me - keala settle
Rise up
Chariot

Next will be Everybody hurts by REM

What's your go to song for your mental health? Whether it's to make you cry, cheer you up, empowerment. I'll listen to every single suggestion.

Thanks in advance!

Beautiful by Christina Aguilera.
National Express by Divine Comedy. Can't resist singing loudly "but it's hard to get by when your arse is the size of a small countreeeeeeeee". Grin
Shake It Off by Taylor Swift.
That Don't Impress Me Much by Shania Twain.

I'm a big Abba fan but for some reason my 'mental health' song is

You're so Vain by Carly Simin

NickiMinajerie · 12/01/2022 21:45

Top of the world Imagine Dragons
Usually stick it on a 1000 decibels at this bit
And I know it's hard when you're falling down
And it's a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now

I won't back down Tom Petty same thing with the chorus This is me Climie Fisher

Here are some from my Spotify playlist that I made when I really needed some music to cheer me up and empower me. I’m an ICU nurse and this is what I listened to on the way to and from work when covid hit us and it was hell on earth in our department. I hope they help you too Smile. This is a great idea for a thread BTW!

(PS DH says I have awful taste in music so apologies in advance Grin)

The Only Way is Up - Yazz and The Plastic Population

Don’t Worry - Mel and Kim

Movin’ On Up - Primal Scream

Let’s Get Away - Men of The North Country

Purge the Poison - MARINA

Diamond Studded Shoes - Yola

Also I really really love this:-

Your husband is wrong.

Also, I love to quote the Taylor Swift lone at men who think they have bad taste, And you would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine"

Because every woman had met a muso man who thinks they have bad taste.

Surprised this wasn't mentioned yet but "The Piano is Not Firewood Yet" by Regina Spektor is beautiful. Probably one of the most meaningful lyrics from any song and very open to interpretation. Though most believe it's about depression and it's deeply cathartic to listen to.
