Kids and toilets opinions please

I'm really interested in opinions to gauge my own against....

If your child was away from home and made a mess of the toilet would you expect them to be discretely taken back to tidy up or the adult responsible for them to do it?

Do we have to think childminder, think dance class, think boarding school, think bushcraft sessions, think astronaut training, or how about dog agility, pony care, cricket bat making, basic car maintenance group?

Also, can people please not share stories of their children or their children's friend's toilets habits.
Always sensible advice.

6 yr old i wouldn't expect them to clean up or notice they'd made a mess

8 yr old I'd expect them to notice and try to clean up but probably not a great job

10 yr old I'd expect them to clean it up properly.

Thanks so much for the comments - it is a friends business - after school care - and she was moaning about this issue - specifically boys peeing on the seat and floor. I said I would WANT her to return my son to the loo to clean up and teach him it is unacceptable, she thought she'd get told off by parents.
I didn't think about perverts and toilet stuff but it is a very good point so I think we'd better stop here.
Thanks so much, I can see views are v mixed and she is going to keep cleaning up for them.
Thank you :)

When my son was around 4/5 he nonchalantly told me that he didn’t like Grandmas downstairs toilet (She had a hideous aged transparent seat and lid that had sea shells inside it) and that he was peeing in her big plant pot.

When I told her, she bizarrely thought it was funny and said that it must be doing the plant some good (it was a money plant) and that he could carry on doing so! Shock

Personally, I would have thrown the plant out.

You’re not being specific enough, it’s all too vague for anyone to answer properly.

NerrSnerr · 12/01/2022 21:19

If she's a childminder or running an after school club she should ask the kids to go back to clean up after themselves, not when the parents come and collect. Do it at the time.

My boys are 7 & 10 and they know they’re to flush, wipe any pee up and wash their hands.
I would absolutely expect them (and want them) to be discreetly informed if they’ve made a mess and to go and clean it up.

You'd throw the plant out?

Seriously?

Maybe time to grow up a bit.

Why? What harm is going to come to me or my child from my written description of them peeing on the seat? It's not like I can see the person wanking behind their computer screen.
Havilland · 12/01/2022 23:16

@Itsalmostanaccessory

Are you saying you would keep a plant that a child had admitted to peeing in over a long period of time?

That’s disgusting! Of course I would throw the plant out if it had been mine and I would have not replaced it.

It was a big plant pot on the floor next to her toilet and had a money plant in it.

Absolutely gross and I told my son never to do it again even if Grandma said it was ok.
