I don't live there but know it. It has a train station and decent bus services to the coast and larger towns. It is a fairly quiet place, not a huge range of shops but a reasonable size tescos.

You mean Axminster in Dorset? If so, will you be living actually in the centre or a surrounding village? What do you need to live? What sorts of information would be helpful?

I live nearby ish. Axminster itself isn't exactly great. There's not a whole lot there (other than the River Cottage Canteen), and my perception is that it has more anti-social behaviour than other places nearby. The nearby villages though and countryside are lovely and you are very close to the sea and Honiton has a bit more going on (also not far from Exeter - train access to both). It's overall a nice part of the country, just Axminster itself is a bit scruffy and faded.

There's a nice swimming pool!

We drive through it frequently, never really have the inclination to stop there. I don't know why, it never really entices me to stop to explore.

I have heard good things about the swimming pool, especially the lessons for children and the Temperature of the pool (in comparison to others locally).

River cottage canteen in the town, from what I have heard from friends has seriously gone down hill, mainly due to reservations being cancelled/booking not being taken correctly and not enough staff, so service can be slow/or it's shut.

The actual River cottage is not far from Axminster, itself.

If you are thinking about moving, I would consider surrounding villages/towns as previous posters have mentioned.
