Anybody work at Next Home, or ordered a Next sofa recently please?

Ordered a sofa at the end of last year, and have an email confirmation saying that my item “will be with you no later than 27th January” - it has recently dawned on me that is now only a couple of weeks away now - great news!

Thought I’d best try to get organised and make arrangements for disposal of my current sofa in anticipation of the new one coming, so contacted Next via live chat to enquire how much notice they give in terms of an actual delivery date (so that I’m not unnecessarily sofa-less for an elongated period of time) but have hit a brick wall.

Apparently they’re unable to check the progress of my order (custom build, so needs to be built before it can be quality checked and then marked as ready for delivery).

They’re also unable to give an indication that on average, I will be contacted a week (for e.g.) or a day (for e.g.) before the 27th Jan to arrange a specific delivery date.

I guess it is what it is, but thought I’d see if anyone can provide further insight? Do I just arrange to get rid of current sofa on 26th Jan and hope for the best, or has anyone ordered & had a delivery recently that can give me an overview of your timeline?

We got sofas from Next last summer - just checked my emails.

We ordered in May with an estimated delivery of "by 28th July". I got an email on 16th July saying the sum for one of the sofas and armchairs (not my full order) would be deducted the following day, then once the payment was taken I got a link to choose my delivery day, the first available was 27th July.

I think on the 21st I got an email to say the amount remaining for the rest of my order would be taken on 22nd and then if I remember correctly I called to see if I could get it delivered same day as the rest of my order but I couldn't, but could get it on 29th July. So overall everything was delivered by 29th July! Unsure how accurate that would be at the moment given general supply chain issues everywhere but hope that's a little bit helpful! (Also I'm in NI, so wasn't expecting things to arrive on time at all!)

Also I was confused when they emailed to say they were only charging for part of my order and when I rang they couldn't tell me then when the rest would be ready, even though it actually was ready a couple of days later, I think they just don't want to make promises in case any issues crop up?

I ordered in November and was expecting it in Feb. They rang today to ask if they could deliver Saturday.

SomeFuckingWizardry that’s helpful, thanks. My inner cynic did wonder if they were being intentionally non-commital! Fortunately my order is just one item so hopefully will come on one day, and I’ll have enough time to make a plan for the old one.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority that’s reassuring. My timeline is very similar to yours so I’ll eagerly anticipate a phone call in the next week or so, fingers crossed.

They can see the date the sofa is expected to them on the system.

The sofa won't be delivered until youve actually booked the date for delivery so don't go getting rid of your sofa just yet.

When your sofa comes in to stock you should receive a link which you can use to book the delivery or you can always call or chat with them to book it.
