If an electric metre runs out of emergency electric does it go off completely?

I checked my electric yesterday, still had £10 emergency left, meant to go to the shop later today, the meter is totally off now, no numbers or anything on it at all.

Does that mean my emergency credit ran out, or that there's a power cut? (Lots of disruptive building work near me that's effected various supply issues)

I need to know how quickly to get to the shop (was planning on going tonight and have lots to do today).

TIA

The metre itself shouldn't go off it should still show numbers.

Just went out to talk to the building lot, they have accidently cut the power to my part of the street 😂 poor blokes are desperately trying to sort it out now.

At least it wasn't my meter running out I suppose.
