'Friend' reactivating FB account

Someone from long ago was a FB friend though we hardly had contact over the years, not a close friend in real life. However, I've since found out they're now a convicted criminal.

I don't want anything to do with them, I've gone to unfriend only to find they're account is unavailable which I think might mean they've deactivated their account. They don't show in a search for me to block, I'm worried that at any point they can reactivate their account and pop into my friend list, would this happen, can I stop it? I think previous friends who've flounced off and returned have just reappeared without me knowing. I can check obviously but don't want to be forever looking over my shoulder so to speak. My privacy settings are quite tight anyway. Is there anything I can do? Sad

Id check via a friends account to see if they’ve blocked you-if so fab

If they’ve only deactivated then there’s not much you can do until they reactivate it again

When they do then you can block them yourself

Why would you be looking over your shoulder? What do you think they're going to when released?

Babyg1995 · 11/01/2022 09:42

Why would you need to be looking over your shoulder ?

Babyg1995 · 11/01/2022 09:44

You can remove friends who have deactivated there accounts there should be dots next to the name with a blank profile picture press it and it should say remove if not the have probably deleted there account all together or blocked you.

Maybe the OP doesn't want to share what they were convicted for? That may be why they don't want them to see their profile!

Cakepig, as the other poster said, see if you can check from a friends account as it sounds like they may have blocked you.

Just don't think about it. I don't see why you'd be looking over your shoulder. If they pop up in the future you can unfriend them. Facebook is just a social media platform- nothing more.

Thank you, theyre not on mutual friend's list so don't think I'm not blocked.

Not literally looking over my shoulder, just figuratively. It was a conviction for child sex abuse. I feel sick Sad Thankfully I don't upload a lot of photos in fact nothing for a good few years, but there are some of my young DC.

Im just changing album settings to trusted family members and close friends. Though actually might just delete....! You just never know!

Ah ok, I can't actually see the name just Facebook user so I'll hope it's removed! Or I am actually blocked.
