To ask if there are any Minecrafting MNetters

Getting into a Minecraft phase, since its winter and therefore sucks. Currently I'm getting supplies to fix a Nether Portal but my long term aims is to build a bona-fide city, a replica mansion and some map art.

Anyone else? I refuse to belive I'm the only videogame (also married to a gamer) on MNet? Don't wanna be the only girly gamer in the village!

Me too. Just getting into the mods. Biomes o'Plenty just makes it all so much more interesting and beautiful. And the sign teleport one so much easier.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 11/01/2022 17:09

I want to keep things vanilla but like the look of the Shader mod - makes the water look beautiful.

You'll find my son and all his friends in Egg wars. I tried it and fell to my death too often.
The Washington city 'world' was pretty impressive.

CoutureBakes · 11/01/2022 17:15

I play on my tablet to relax but I don't know much about other features etc, my kids have tried to tell me to play on p.c and how to use mods but to be honest I just like building houses, gardens etc on creative mode.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 11/01/2022 17:20

My boys and DH got me into it. My boys spent a couple of years on 2b2t and played BedWars but the queues and the hacking have made both a bit unplayable now.

I must have been Dwarvish in a (Tolkienesque) early life because I really just love getting to level 12 (or whatever it is since new levels are here/coming) and blocking my way through lava, mobs and gravel strata for my diamonds etc.
I also dig to 0,0,0 then dig up and build fort/farm bases for all players, but from which I myself rarely stray Blush because I prefer meeting mobs at close quarter. I've been known to dig to my kids bases and dig a mine shaft for them to join me in the bowels of the earth. Hi Ho!

Throwayay - So you are familiar with the metal remix (Windrose) of Diggy Diggy Hole!

Hur...that is me of a morning Grin.
I do go above ground - here's my workaday base. I live on bread! and pillagers can't see me or get in thus far.
Love, love, love Minecraft.

I love the house - I'm trying to be more aesthetic about my builds but can still be slow about Survival houses - still haven't got a house on Day 1 that wasn't a hole in the ground.

It's so nice to find other MNetter gamers!

me too. PS4.

I love to play on creative and last year i built an entire Ancient Greek 'working' settlement, complete with ships, residential quarter, semi circular stone harbour, logging shipments, coliseum, market, various temples to the gods and a huge palace on a hill overlooking the whole lot Grin

My four DCs and my DH are gamers. We tend to play on the PS4 in living room though rather than tucked away in bedrooms.

DH and DD4 (7) are at this moment playing Unravelled on 2 player game together Grin DD getting very cross with DH who can't seem to jump high enough

Laiste · 11/01/2022 18:22

We went through a phase where DH and i played minecraft extreme survival in the evenings as 2 player. You google extreme survival seeds and start on a teeny tiny island about 10 blocks square with one tree and a blade of grass. Team work :)

We stopped when it crashed one eve and we lost 6 hours of progress and we were devastated it hit home what a bloody waste of time gaming is ....

HmmGrin

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 11/01/2022 18:27

We usually play together in the living room, although at the weekends the boys take up their computers and Discord us from their bedrooms.

Me!! But I’ve stopped briefly to play Stardew Valley again Smile

Laiste · 11/01/2022 18:36

The only other thing i've played over the last couple of years is Red Dead online.

Now that IS addictive Grin

Same. We often have family game night on Stardew.

Yes hello!

I have been playing Minecraft from the very beginning. I have loved the game from the first moment I spawned in the middle of nowhere with no idea of how to play and no information online to explain what to do. I remember the sheer joy of slowly figuring out what to do and memorising the patterns to make everything.

It is my favourite game of all time. I got Mr Grimbledon hooked when we first met and now we play with friends regularly on our Realm. Before Realms existed I ran a little server for friends. I have so many good memories of this game over the years. I genuinely cannot wait til Mini Grimbledon is old enough to play. I will introduce him to Stampy Cat and his Lovely World too.

One of my favourite things to do is sometimes just to watch Mr Grimbledon play. He throws it up on our projector while he's playing on the PC and I kick back with Mini Grimbledon and watch from the sofa.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 11/01/2022 20:51

Wouldn't it be nice to have a MN Realm?

Although it would have to be on Java because Bedrock is poo.

You all know it!

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 11/01/2022 21:23

I play on both Bedrock and Java - wish I had a projection screen since splitscreen is poo

I keep trying because I love the idea of it but the first person perspective makes me sick and i cant work it properly on any of the other views.

My 8 year old daughter is bloody great at it though.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 13/01/2022 07:31

FPS split screen also makes me motion sick.
As for an MN realm - could try and see how to set one up.

A realm costs £5.99 a month and you add whomever you want to join and play. It's a blast! Much easier than the old days when you had to run your own server to play together. Worth the small fee to have it all taken care off. I used to hate the maintenance of the server whenever there was an update to the game.

LadyCleathStuart · 13/01/2022 09:05

I play it sometimes on our Switch. DS likes me to play two player with him on the Xbox but I hate Xbox controls.

I have built a pretty big village although I don't have much imagination so it looks a bit like a generic new build estate (like something Barrat would build) but I'm happy enough with it.

DS does loads of fancy things on his and likes to play survival with his friends too. DD and I stick to creative, she is only 5 but has already built some impressive stuff.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 17/01/2022 19:02

Trying to build a big Villager dormitory with a library on top - want to get some enchanted armour before going in the Nether again.
This time I actually want to fight the Ender Dragon - only done that with DH beforehand.
