Extra bank holiday this year

At work we get 30 days leave per year. This is to include 2 days for Christmas and 2 at New Year so basically 26 to do as we please.

There was a conversation today where the boss was asked about the extra bank holiday in June. His response was your annual leave is per your contract and that it includes bank holidays, ie we aren’t getting the extra day. Does anyone know what the positions is please?

It depends on the wording in your contract.

If your contract states the basic holiday allowance "plus bank holidays" then the extra BH would be included. If you have a set number of days for holiday (for example, 28 days including Bank Holidays) then it's not.

Ours doesn't allow for the extra day so I was expecting to use annual leave, but we're being given it as a goodwill gesture.
