Got Omicron and a trapped nerve. Thoroughly browned off. Recommend me a film to take my mind off it?

Ugh, I'm about ready to be carted off to the glue factory. Two weeks of Omicron and I'm still feeling like crap (everyone else is better), and now I have a trapped nerve as well.I can't sleep because of the pain, pain killers not working. I need something that will totally transport me and take me out of this crappy situation for a couple of hours.

Films I wish I hadn't seen so I could watch them for the first time now: Armageddon, Deep Impact, Django Unchained, all the Harry Potter films, Brazil, Don't Look Now, all the Conjuring movies, The Others...

any recommendations?

Hereditary
The Lighthouse
Ghost Stories
Possum

Con Air is an indulgent rewatch for me if I’m feeling crap. Totally hokey, played straight by everyone in it even while they are gnawing happily on the scenery.

I recently watched Rocketman. I'm not even an Elton John fan but thoroughly enjoyed it and actually ended up watching it twice. Great for a bit of escapism and the lead is amazing.

i saw on instagram an 'influencer' complained of a trapped nerve in her shoulder whilst being positive. She then showed in her stories loads of messages from other people saying they were suffering the same...how odd!

Really enjoyed watching don't look up

Alpenguin · 10/01/2022 21:14

Don’t look up is good if you haven’t already seen it. Also swan song on Apple TV is a bit of a tear jerker too…

When I had covid in march 2020 I was left with what felt like a trapped nerve in the front and centre of both shoulders for over a year. It would flare up every few months and nothing worked.

ZoeTheThornyDevil · 10/01/2022 21:23

Yes! Rocketman is great. And the music and costumes are fabulous.

tick, tick... BOOM! on Netflix is also great. Andrew Garfield just won a Best Actor golden globe for it.

If you have Apple TV and haven't seen it yet, Ted Lasso is hugely feelgood. Also We Are Lady Parts, which is a Channel 4 comedy.

The Nest on Netflix (not exactly cheery though)

I really liked Locke & Key on Netflix if you’ve not seen it - good for a binge watch.

If you are feeling low don’t watch The Shack on Netflix, it is a great film but I cried my eyes out, very emotional story.
