I have done proofreading for several years now for friends and family. Mostly academic assignments, masters dissertations etc for people who mostly speak English as a second language. I think I'm good at it, I have good command of English and I'm familiar with how to do mark up.
I'm thinking to do this more professionally now, but need advice from seasoned proofreaders. How much do you charge, and do you work it per hour or per 1000 words? How do you find work? I'm not interested in 'competing' for very low paid work.
Any other advice regarding rules/boundaries you have put in place would be muchly appreciated.
