Has anyone got rabbits & if so, can you recommend any toys or activities for them? I have four bunnies, still all quite young ( the oldest will be 4 in May). They have the run of the back garden for part of the day but I’d like to give them a few things to do. A while ago I filled a cardboard box with shredded paper & the little bunny we had then absolutely loved playing in it.

Sadly our bunnies died last year but every week dh collected some branches and twigs and put them in the run. They reorganised them, hid under, climbed on and thoroughly enjoyed them!! Also pine cones and leaves. Miss them more than dd does!

We had house bunnies and they loved it if we hid treats inside toilet roll tubes stuffed with paper. Raisins were their favourite

This website has sooo many ideas. Love bunnies! I’m so happy many more people have moved on from the miserable life in a hutch on their own which was common when I was young. Such a sad life for those bunnies Sad.

santa so sorry about your bunnies - we have lost 2, the last being one of our very first pair of bucks. It’s heartbreaking. He’s buried under a flowerpot in the garden & I still say hello to him whenever I pass by.

Graffiti.

Biggest kept secret. Pop some spray cans and some stencils in a paper bag and place them in the garden near a wall and leave them to it. Not many people know this, but Banksy is actually a Lop rabbit.

A pair of bunnies need 24/7 access to 60 sq ft, so make sure they have enough space that is safe from predators to zoom and binky around. They have friends which is brilliant as they are social creatures.

Enrichment ideas:
Cardboard box full of hay
Toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay
Tunnels / tubes (I have a three way one from trixie which they love, it was sold as a cat tunnel but mine aren't big chewers)
Use string to make a washing line across their run & peg greens to it
Ditch the bowl - their daily allowance of pellets can be sprinkled around their enclosure, hidden in hay etc to encourage foraging
Make a dig box - a deep plastic storage box or top entry cat litter box, full of top soil
Sheet of newspaper, put some hay / handpulled grass / forage on it, roll up and twist the ends to make a cracker shape
Baby stacking cups or plastic keys are great fun to chuck around
Provide levels - most bunnies appreciate a taller lookout point in their enclosure
Treat dispensing ball - trixie do one, usually about £2.99 in The Range - fill with daily pellet allowance or pea flakes, they roll it around and the food gradually drops out

Mine either love or hate a little plastic flowerpot in their area; at any rate they will move it around a lot! They ignore all sorts of usual things but I might try a treat dispenser… they have the run of one end of the kitchen and go out in the garden when we are around to supervise, so they do have a fair bit to do! But they love a lazy stretch in their hutch.
