Would you recommend a Henry vacuum cleaner?

Are Henry's any good?

What are the different types? I have seen a Hetty and a Harry cleaner. Are these the same?

Is the suction adjustable? Would you recommend getting one?

My house is small with furniture that I need to get under, so don't want anything too big. I have a shark and I can't be doing with it anymore am just going to use it for the car.

Mine crashed into a tiled outside corner and broke the edge. I was NOT amused and am thinking of padding my Henry with a pool noodle…

Mine has pretty good suction but if you try to pull to get her to move at all (not even just round a corner, maybe only a few feet!) it falls over!

I wouldn’t recommend, harder work than a upright, takes more space to store, corded so that has limitations. I would buy a cordless shark duo clean pet version with anti hair wrap, so easy when you just want to run the hoover round quickly.

I love my Henry, yes he likes to stop and chat to every corner and chair leg but I'm willing to forgive that flaw based on the fact that he's now 10 years old and has survived a 5 month house renovation, the builders were hoovering up ruble with him, 4 dogs, and 4 kids and his suction is still great. I've tried Dyson and the Miele cat and dog, they both broke within 2 years, so as much as they were easier hoovers in weight and maneuverability they were certainly not cost effective.

Henry is very recommended. Tough and durable. He is heavy to lug around however and not sexy.

Spaceman1 · 10/01/2022 08:26

It's a great little hoover!

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2022 08:35

It's awful for carting it up and down stairs - a real ball ache. Our Henry is powerful and trusty if you remember to change the bags and it's never broken, but his weight and size goes against him.

We ended up getting a cordless because doing the stairs with a Henry is awkward and cumbersome.

I love mine!

I’ve had them all. Shark, vax and dyson. Henry is still powering on when all of the others are long dead!

blobby10 · 10/01/2022 08:44

Henry are made in the UK ! Surely that's a plus point ! if anyone is interested, the Greg Wallace programme 'inside the factory' is doing an episode on them this series.

WhoWants2Know · 10/01/2022 08:48

I have one and I love it.

userxx · 10/01/2022 08:53

I absolutely loved my hetty, unfortunately my back didn't so I switched to an upright vax, which is nowhere as good as hetty.

Throughabushbackwards · 10/01/2022 08:58

We love our Henry for proper deep vacuuming, but have also invested in a Dyson cordless for a daily run about. Henry is quite big and clunky to cart upstairs.

@PenelopePitstop79

Never bother about a Henry. Get a Miele. They are utterly amazing.

Once you have a Miele, it's the difference between night and day. Sharks etc won't cut it:

Just had a look and Miele isn't as expensive as I thought. I have to wait until Henry dies before getting one though so I'll probably be in my seventies by then.
