Would you recommend a Henry vacuum cleaner?

Are Henry's any good?

What are the different types? I have seen a Hetty and a Harry cleaner. Are these the same?

Is the suction adjustable? Would you recommend getting one?

My house is small with furniture that I need to get under, so don't want anything too big. I have a shark and I can't be doing with it anymore am just going to use it for the car.

Yes I love our hetty. But pp's are right, they do have a tendency to fall over a lot but it adds to the charm Smile

BitterTits · 09/01/2022 22:08

I think Henry is good value for the job it does. I wouldn't buy a Dyson or a Shark based on other people's comments. My Vax was shit.

BitterTits · 09/01/2022 22:08

Also mine only tips if I'm impatient and pull really hard.

My mum had a Henry. I used it a couple of times and I didn't think much of it. I thought the suction just wasn't good enough and it was bulky. I have a stick Vaccum which is really good and a vax upright and the suction is extremely powerful.

DeathMetalMum · 09/01/2022 22:12

I almost bought a henry in the summer but decided on a Sebo felix - they were a similar price at the time, and we didn't have space to store henry.

I'm impressed there is variable suction, I can hoover the whole house without unplugging (our house is small). Stairs are 50/50 but I use the upholstery attachment and the whole hoover will sit on a stair so I just move up the stairs with the whole thing much easier than my previous upright.

@OrangeSyringe

100% get a Henry. Brilliant vacuum at a good price. A real workhorse.

If you’ve got £££ to spend a Miele is lighter than a Henry.

My friends who are cleaners love Henry’s or Mieles but would only ever buy a Henry themselves.

Never get a Dyson. They don’t actually vacuum and you have to empty them every bloody time or they lose what little suction they have.

this 100% Henry's ate great... and foe anything messy/diy related rhey can't be beat.

but i do think a miele is worth the extra money. I have both, and love both and expect to last me another decade.

I would never touch a Dyson.. I see far too many every time I go to the tip and I don't think the price is justified. yes their latest cordless is great... but it is over £500 and I guarantee you it won't be working in 10 years time.

rocky1914 · 09/01/2022 22:13

Definitely yes, my Henry hoover is excellent and because it's an industrial hoover, the suction is great. Good investment and worth the money

OverByYer · 09/01/2022 22:14

I hated mine. Awkward fucker always bashing into door frames and chair legs. Couldn’t wait to get rid. Still looking for the perfect hoover. Currently have a cylinder dyson and not fussed on that. Looking at going back to a Miele

Yotrotro · 09/01/2022 22:14

Suction much poorer than Shark. Fucking heavy and damages furniture it gets stuck on, unless you live in a very minimalist house. Kills your back if you are over 5ft with all the bending. Awkward getting into spaces and moving other than straight back and forward. Shops/cleaners buy em cause they are cheap. Pet hair version just moves the hair around the carpet. Fuck using one on the stairs, I'd rather buy a new carpet.

SmellyOldOwls · 09/01/2022 22:15

They're cumbersome but they last forever.

Vicliz24 · 09/01/2022 22:15

My Henry was my parents and is 30 years old . Yes he falls over rather dramatically but he works consistently and has done for longer than my adult DC have lived . Will buy another if he ever passes away.

GachaBread · 09/01/2022 22:15

I have a large family and have gone through many hoovers in my time. I remember having a Henry but it used to get on my nerves the pipes falling of from the main nozzle. I have an industrial hoover now (the type that they use when valeting cars) which has lasted just over three years, is v powerful then your usual type of hoover and the suction is phenomenal. Someone on Mumsnet recommended it. I could never ever go back to a mainstream hoover now.

bdd2017 · 09/01/2022 22:16

I love my Henry, he's also adorable, hard working and reliable, and I regularly talk to him like he's a real person because he is

SmellyOldOwls · 09/01/2022 22:16

@Maverick66

100% recommend Henry from a suction and long lead point of view. However, it is cumbersome to carry up and down stairs.
I have come up with a solution to this problem. I just don't vacuum upstairs Star
Fatgalslim · 09/01/2022 22:17

I work in construction and we use Henry's in our welfare areas and and site.

'nuff said

borntobequiet · 09/01/2022 22:19

I find them very uncomfortable to use and as others have said, heavy and unwieldy. I have a biggish Vax that I use for serious cleaning and a little light Bush one I bought for about £40 in a supermarket that I use every day and far prefer.

Elphame · 09/01/2022 22:19

Falls over all the time and is a nightmare to store. I hate the way it bangs into furniture when you try and manoeuvre it.

My cleaner loves it. I hate it.

Buytoomuchonebay · 09/01/2022 22:20

We bought the Henry xtra
It’s a good hoover but we don’t use the extra attachment as it’s not any better than the normal one and the normal one seems to get up dog hair just fine
It’s also bloody noisy
I’d go for a normal Henry or the hetty (I loved my hetty)
Agree with the Disney tantrums though!

JugglingJanuary · 09/01/2022 22:23

I ❤️ Henry!

Yes, he's a heavy little chap, but he has very good suction and with a bag in, he is very easy to change and no mess.

He only falls over when you don't treat him nicely!

I tried a cordless vax (because I foolishly thought I'd Hoover more often with a cordless, it was expensive, even in their sale, but it was crap! I gave it to my friend in the end, because her Dysons keep dying one after the other. She uses it upstairs to save carrying one up. It helps, but she sometimes takes Henry for a dirty weekend!!!

Mother87 · 09/01/2022 22:26

Have loved my Hetty & Henry - but fantasy Hetty would be lighter/cordless & untippable... I always put them away facing outwards in case they think they're being punishedBlush

RememberThePenguins · 09/01/2022 22:26

Love my Henry. He grins away happily no matter what you throw at him. He's fab!

Had a Dyson and a Vax before and both were shite. Henry never lets me down.

BUT, he's very cumbersome to store. He lives in our garage. For a flat, as much as I love his cheeky face, I'm not sure he's the right vacuum cleaner given the storage space needed.

Mother87 · 09/01/2022 22:27

Maybe they could make a Long Tall Sally for the stairs??

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 09/01/2022 22:27

DH likes our Hetty. I don’t. Dragging the thing around is tiresome and it falls over and cracks your shins.

I use the cordless Beko. He can use Hetty if he wants.

itwasntaparty · 09/01/2022 22:30

Had one, switched it for a cordless Vax, so much better.
