Should I be worried (head injury to child)?

My 8 year old was hit in the back of the head with a (rubber covered) golf club this afternoon.

Tonight she is very irritable, has been crying, says she feels sick and head and tummy hurts. Her nose has been running a bit too.

However, she has been coughing today so think she has a bit of a cold (not covid as had it a few weeks ago) plus it was a party so she's had ice cream, milk shake, sweets and chocolate plus unhealthy main meal. I'm thinking the runny nose is the cold and the feeling sick etc is the exciting day with bad food.

She cried a bit when hit with the club and it must have hurt but wasn't dazed or knocked over or anything. Should I be worried about concussion? Can you get concussion if something small hits your head (rather than you banging your head on something)?

Thanks

She is now in my bed coughing quite a bit but still awake, but doesn't want me anywhere near her.

How hard was she hit? If it was whilst the golf club was in full swing I would say she needs to be see, if it was more like a little tap I would maybe just monitor at home. If you didn't witness it so you dont know then I would err on the side of caution and get her seen.

Is there a lump? Did she cry out straight away? What are her pupils like? Was she sick? Have you given calpol?

Ring 111 and ask.

The club wasn't hitting a ball, it was being swung around by another child (child's club).

I can't feel a lump. Didn't cry out just went quiet as I think it was a bit of a shock then had a little cry but was being brave in front of friends. Pupils look normal. Not been sick. She didn't want medicine.

She now says nothing hurts. Only that her nose and me are annoying her and leave her alone to go to sleep! I feel like I'm going to distress her more by keep prodding and looking at her so should maybe just keep an eye on her.
