Any recommendations for a decent calculator for ALevel physics study please???

Have you considered asking the tutor? There's usually a standard one that they recommend to avoid falling foul of exam board rules.

DS used a Casio Classwiz FX‑991EX for A-level physics and is still using it now (second year of undergraduate degree). He does also have a graphical calculator, but the Casio Classwiz is his everyday calculator, and the rules at his university allow it to be used in exams.

Cant get hold of teacher still on Christmas break.

They are usually told by the school/college which one to get so that they all have the same one. You should have got an equipment list at the beginning of the school year?
