5th birthday party

Due to the current situation we have gotten to the age of five with dd without having had a large birthday party.
I was thinking of booking the local soft play but wondered if perhaps 5 was a bit old for this? I was also wondering if it’s acceptable to only invite 10 children from her class (there’s only 20), or if this would be a faux pas. We haven’t been invited to any class parties, only a couple of at home ones with a few other kids. Anyone else’s experience of organising a party right now, would be most welcome!

5 would be the perfect age for a soft play party I think. My DS4 has just been to one! I think the whole class was invited (25) but not everyone came, so bare that in mind if you only invite half.

Great, thanks for the tip @MonkeyPuddle I’ll keep that in mind.

I’m in the same boat and am also booking soft play. Ours is still happy to go to soft play with friends so think he’ll be more than. Happy with it for a party. For me, it’s a very easy option as they can run around for an hour without me needing to provide entertainment!

Whether 5 is too old will depend on your local softplay. It's not generally too old, but could be of your softplay is very small/aimed at younger kids.

You can't invite half of a small class. A few friends or everyone at that age.

My twin nephew and niece had their 5th birthday party at the small local softplay. SIL booked out all 35 slots so it was just for their party, and they got lunchboxes too, all for 1.5hr slot. It worked really well

We just went to a soft play for a 5 year old party, it was great! Only a few kids from her class went and the rest were family I think.

5/ 6/ 7 used to be perfectly normal for softplay parties when mine were that age. I suppose it depends what is at your local softplay centre.

Perfectly Normal to invite 10, or possibly 7 or 8. Of course no issue with inviting half a class.
I would think it wrong if you invited all of a group except 1 or 2, but nothing wrong with inviting 1/2

We went to one for two 6 year olds last night.
