I'm only just getting over Betty White, a heroine of mine and now one of my heros has passed. He was a legend. Off the scale as an actor. Just some of my favourite films:-

In the Heat of the Night (should have got the Oscar with Rod Steiger!)what a totally brilliant film that is.
"They callled me MR Tibbs!"

Lilies of the Field - just beautiful and he did win the Oscar.
"Well lotsa luck Mother, I ain't buidin' no schapel!"

A Patch of Blue - a hidden gem of a film.

Very sad to hear this. Grew up watching him. My mum loved him. I'm sure they'll be playing all his films again soon.

I love the film A Patch Of Blue. He was a wonderful actor, and came across as a decent human.

RIP Sidney. Fabulous actor! I always saw a bit of him in Denzel Washington too.
